Have you unscrewed the vacuum port fitting from the wall to make sure the connector isn't somehow stopping flow? Maybe the pressure relief valve is messed up, and there's a screen to catch debris that could be clogged.

If it was me, I'd go ahead and finish the treatment that you started, so that you can get some chlorine in the pool. Especially if it's going to take a few days or more to get the rest of the AA in. Then you'll just need to do another separate treatment. That seems an easier task then...

I might have to move. Look up "sea squirt larvae" or tunicate larvae. They look like this......but no idea how they'd get in your pool in Missouri unless you've been throwing sea shells in the pool or some other sea-borne items. Wierd.

When my pump buzzed, it needed a new capacitor. I got one at a local electrical supply (took the old one off and took it with me). Worked like a charm. You might see if that works, it was fairly cheap, about $10 bucks.

Salt won't clear your pool, but I don't see where it will hurt if they want to add it so badly.
