Yep, I have been closing in September from day one. It's not that I want to, but every September my job takes me on the road and I can't take a chance on doing it later, plus my wife says she was done swimming.
I always used my leaf blower to get the big stuff and dust off. The remaining which was not much most times did make into the water and got routed to the skimmer or vacuumed up.
I only use mine in early spring to help bring the water temp up and keep it on at night to help keep evaporation down...

My 1 hp Pentair is going on 6 seasons, it began to get noisy toward the end of the season last year. Ordered 2 new bearings watched a few you tube videos and tore it apart and replaced them.

Thank you, yes the fountain just floats with a long clear hose the attaches to the return. It has a sliding weight the also attaches to the hose to keep it in place. I cannot remember where I got it from, sorry.
