    Heat pump help...

Go to poolheatpumps.com. Great selection, plenty of help with sizing. I have a 110k btu gulfstream for my 20x40 gunite in MD. It will raise them 10 degrees a day without issues.

    Diverter Replacement Project

I’ve had good luck cutting a slit in the elbows parallel to the pipes then heating them with a heat gun and peeling them off. You have to clean up the ends of the pipes with sandpaper afterwards but it works pretty well. Cut the valve out of the way 1st to make things easier.

Can't stand the pool store...trying to close...PLEASE HELP!!!

What are you spending that money on? Before closing, I check my levels and adjust just like any other weekend. Next I lower the water level a little below skimmers and blow out and plug the lines. That’s it! In the spring I remove the cover, add water, start filter and balance. Generally the...

Is it possible to open a pool and not have to do anything to it?

I generally open to crystal clear water. Usually just a bunch of leaves a worms to vacuum out and add a bit of salt, borate and acid.

    SWGS, salt and rising PH

Pool is closed now. I use acid to clean the light ring and that fizzes. I'm also able to scrape off the plaster with a scraper or pumice stone. Guess I'll revisit this in the spring. Thanks for your input. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    SWGS, salt and rising PH

Re: Does anyone have anything bad to say about saltwater pools????? Thank you. I've been trying to keep ph 7.4-7.6 knowing it rises on me. I don't check TA as often and usually don't mess with it until it drops to 45 which is when I'll add baking soda. With the amount of scale I have I've...

    SWGS, salt and rising PH

Re: Does anyone have anything bad to say about saltwater pools????? I question none of the above. My original comment to the potential buyer of a SWG was that I have to add nearly a gallon of acid per week and I'm getting tired of dealing with the staining and scale. I can maintain ph while...

    SWGS, salt and rising PH

Re: Does anyone have anything bad to say about saltwater pools????? I understand all of that and the post below. I did start a thread several years ago which led to the borate and lowered TA. The only thing that goes into this pool is salt, CYA, baking soda and occasional hardness plus. My...

    SWGS, salt and rising PH

I keep my TA around 50, have 50ppm of borate, do not have anything that aerates, only run pump 4-6 hours per day and still have the issues. I close the pool at 7.2 in late October and open it higher than my ph test will read in April every year. The presence of salt alone seems to increase the...

Does anyone have anything bad to say about saltwater pools?????

I do. I've had one for 12 years. You simply cannot keep the PH down. My 25k gallon pool takes close to 3 gallons of acid a month. No matter what I do I can't control the PH over the winter and open to a thicker coat of scale every spring. When I renovate I will go back to plain old chlorine...

    Continuing issue with PH rise

Fill water CH is about 75 so dont think that's the issue. I have to add salt every year from draining rain water so I would suspect that I'm diluting CH as well. - - - Updated - - - Great tip. Didn't realize I needed the SpeedStir until I got the TF-100.

    Continuing issue with PH rise

Hi, I've had my TF-100 for about a week now and am puzzled by the CH readings I'm getting. I keep getting readings of between 450-550. Two different pool stores are consistently showing 240-260. One of the stores is completely computerized (A&S) which would normally comfort me but they also...

My FC is usually closer to 3 so don't think that's the issue. Should I do anything about the CH and CYA or just leave it alone? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Continuing issue with PH rise

As a follow up I tested my fill water. The PH is below 6.0 (can't test any lower) and the TA is below 10. When I test the TA at the point that I'm adding the 5 drops of R-0008 the solution turns pink as soon as mixed. I added 1 drop of R-0009 to turn it from pink to red. I performed both tests...

    Continuing issue with PH rise

Hi, I received my shiny new TF-100 last night and performed my first tests. The PH and TA are pretty close to what my old kit was telling me but I'm a bit shocked at my CH. I tested again this morning to make sure I hadn't contaminated my results with cervesa last night. PH 7.5 FC 11 CC 0...

    Continuing issue with PH rise

I have to add a gallon plus per week. I would run as fast as I could from Leslie. They try to sell you things you don't need (phosphate reducers being one of the more expensive), give you incorrect advice ("TDS is high you need to drain your pool) and their testing is WRONG! Read the post on...

    Continuing issue with PH rise

Well, I had Leslie test and they came up with 7.8 PH, 120 TA, 2500 salt (said they could not test borax). AS tested same day and got 8.6 PH, 60 TA, 3500 salt and 0.0 borax. The AS numbers seem closer but the borax scares me (I know it's @ 40-50) and they we telling me my salt was too high...

    Continuing issue with PH rise

Hi, I've been having an issue with PH rise since my pool was new. I have to add nearly a gallon of acid per week just to keep things in check. After reading about borate last summer I decided to try it and see if it would help (it has not). What really baffles me is the rise I get when to...
