Intex Sand Filter, sand getting in pool, Pic heavy

So I"m getting sand in the pool, I think it started last year, but wasn't too bad. This year I'm getting quite a bit more. Last night I took the filter apart, got the sand out to hopefully find something broke. WRONG. Everything looked fine. When I opened it, the sand did have a nasty, gray...

Intex 15'x48", SWG help, need input on set up

I currently have a Intex pool, 2100gph sand filter that I have been using chlorine to disinfect. I inherited a SWG, CS8110, and trying to 1. figure out if it work, 2, figure out if I can use it in my current setup. 1. I was told it worked, but when they tried to show me, it wouldn't come on...

    6 way valve - HELP

Finally got around to taking the valve off to see if the spider gasket was bad, out way, it was just out of place and twisted. However, it l looks like something broke at some point. See the attachment with the area circled in red. Anyone know what might have broke? The filter seems to be...

    Intex Sand filter issues

Yeah, I saw the link on the deep clean last night. I'll have to do that when I get back. If it's the gasket, it looks like I will need the entire 6 way valve according to Intex website. :|

    Intex Sand filter issues

I currently have 2 issues with the pump (sand filter SF20110). I've also getting ready to leave for vacation. 1. I'm getting sand back into the pool. Right now I have a sock over the discharge to catch all the sand. I've had never changed the sand since I've had the pump, maybe 5-6...

    properly opening/chlorinating AGP

that's kind of what I wondered since I couldn't find the link anymore. If one uses the dry stabilizer, what's the best way to put it in the pool, a sock in front of the return to slowly dissolve it? Reason I ask, years past I just sprinkled it in the pool and it never dissolved.

    properly opening/chlorinating AGP

Got an Intex 15'x48" pool. I used to have some links saved with info on opening, chlorinating the pool and such, but seems the link I saved are now gone. One of the links I lost and can not find is how to open a pool and took you through each step. This process I had mentioned using either...

Intex Sediment and Air Release Valve 10460

Mine is cracked, fixed it once with silicone, and it's now starting to leak again and of course this happens as we are leaving for vacation in a couple days. I'm in the process of trying to fix it again with JB Weld which should hold <crossing fingers>. I'm trying to find one online to buy so...

    TFP rocks!

We've had so much rain lately here in MO, that last night I was starting to drain a few inches of water out of the pool so it wouldn't overflow when the kids jumped in. I drained an inch or so out last night and was going to let some more out this morning. I go out only to find the water below...

High TA, possible small algae bloom

Thanks Richard. I never worried about the TA anyway, with the small pool we have, I've just worried about the FC and pH. I have always put the test kit off, I just need to break down and get it. I'm cheap and don't like spending $$. I never wanted to the pool, my wife bought it without...

High TA, possible small algae bloom

I'm one of those owners that have a PITA Intex pool (15'x4'). I'm sure I'll catch some slack, but I don't have a good tester, only really check on pH and TC. Took a sample in today cause I think I had a small algae bloom when I got back from a work trip Tuesday night. Wed AM I threw in some...

HTH 3 way tester I know, I need to find the extra funds and buy one.

    need to lower my TA

Yeah, that's what my problem was, had the pH numbers reversed. From what I understand, if I get the TA in normal range, my pH won't swing so much? It's odd with the pH cause when I test it with my drops, I see it being 7.6

    need to lower my TA

I've got some minor issues with algae, took some samples to 3 different pool stores, the first one I'm throwing out cause they say my CYA is 65 :| The other 2 are pretty close, they are... Second store FC 4.3 pH 8.4 CH 339 TA 215 CYA 20 third store FC 4.2 pH 8.2 CH 340 TA 200 CYA 20 The...

    water cloudy, high TA

What would happen if I get the shock level too high?

    water cloudy, high TA

Yeah, I was wrong with the soda. I've been told since I don't have a huge pool to not really worry about the TA. Wouldn't adding the dichlor shock it? I added about 10oz. And yes, the water was cloudy before.
  27. K

    water cloudy, high TA

My water is cloudy, TA is around 200, just added dichlor so my FC is high, around 6-7, pH isn't horrible, around 7.8-7.9, CYA, it's hard to tell, maybe 20, thus why I added the dichlor. For some reason the pool calculator isn't working, so I don't know how much backing soda I need to add to...

Want to redo piping, inlet pool, sand filter - Intex

I'm wanting to add a second return at the bottom of the pool to help get the Crud off the bottom of the pool. What I'm thinking about doing is getting all new suction and return fittings in addition to the additional second suction so I can get rid of the proprietary intex threads. This will...

Skimmer or second suction port at floor?

Well, it usually happens after I get the pool up, my mind starts to wonder about what I could do to improve the pool. Last year I ditched the POS pump that came with the pool and got a sand filter, this year I cut the liner to utilize the larger intake and discharge. I've been thinking about...

REBAR VS. WIRE MESH FOR CONCRETE DECK

People need to stop using wire mesh. When I had one of our structural engineers check the rebar equilivent of 6x6x10x10 WWF, it is what I got back.... A 10 gage wire has an area of 0.0082in^2, which is 13.5 times smaller than the area of a #3 bar (0.1104in^2). This means that the WWF is more...
