Experience I just had at the pool store ?

So he said he attended a water chemistry (course, certification, seminar??) in Chicago, and that I need to remember that the big pool stores aren’t knowledgeable in water chemistry. Apparently he had already forgotten that I said I was following a method I discovered on a pool website. He...

Experience I just had at the pool store ?

So I just got home from the pool/spa store that’s 30 minutes from my house and I didn’t purchase anything. They told me that the method you guys recommend is disastrous to our health and to the hot tub. They said that we were going to destroy our livers and be covered in rashes, plus our...

    Using MPS

Alright, so I'm feeling pretty good about starting up this hot tub, balancing and sanitizing it. My only confusion comes from the use of MPS. I tend to be more of a purist, so MPS confuses me. How necessary is MPS, and if I need it, is it going to mess up other chemicals and/or tests? Thank...

    Hot tub start up

Good morning! So, we recently sold our home with the in ground pool, but our new home has a hot tub. If I give the numbers, can anyone tell me what chemicals I need? We will be using the chlorine method. The previous owners only have Clorox xtra blue 6-in-1 granules on hand. Can I use that...

    TA question

I use the chlorine feeder only when I need to increase my CYA with pucks. Otherwise I normally add bleach.

    TA question

Oh, the materials that came with my test kit said manually chlorinated pools needed to be 100-120. That's why I was trying to get above 100. Thank you!

    TA question

Hello : ) My TA has been gradually decreasing, and after a particularly heavy rain recently, it dropped to 80. I added 12 pounds of baking soda on the 30th, and I just rechecked it and it's only at 90. Is it common that it doesn't increase as expected? I mixed it with some pool water and...

    Two questions

Actually no, I wasn't. Clean for my filter is 13 PSI, but I was letting it get to 18 or 19 before backwashing. I corrected that as of today, and will be doing this going forward. Thank you!

    Two questions

So, this morning I decided to get over myself and go brush the sides, and I could SEE THE MAIN DRAIN! For the first time since we moved in, I can see the bottom of the deep end : ) I still have work to do, but this is exciting!

    Two questions

Usually it's off by 2. Normally the shallow end is two less than the deep end, but sometimes the deep end has less FC. I run the pump all the time. The dolphin vacuums (after I attempted it once). I was brushing at least once a day until I felt defeated. I guess the robot stirred up some...

    Two questions

Still slamming, but the deep end is still not clear. It's clearer than when I started, but it's nowhere close to being a safe area to swim in. I bought a Dolphin this weekend, and the stuff that came out of the deep end was astonishing. Here's my other question. I realized midway through...

    What is this?

Let me know if you need more pictures! - - - Updated - - - In my equipment pictures, can you see the electrical "station?" The switch under the outlet is for the pump, but we have no idea what the switch on the other side is for. Any ideas about that? We have two pool lights, but they don't...

    What is this?

Pool came with new house. Seller was an investor who never lived in the house and didn't maintain the pool (renters did), so I don't know the pool history. Is this a return that's been capped off? We only have 2 returns, so a 3rd could really be beneficial for circulation in this big pool...
