Yet another, Test Kits in Canada Thread

I'm 45 mins from the US/Canada border @ Buffalo NY. Back in the olden days (pre-COVID) I'd I typically order from Leslie's Pool Supply in Buffalo NY. They'd call me to pick up and I'd drive down and get it, along with some Don Peppinos Pizza Sauce! The last time I purchased it was $59 ($80) for...

Outstanding Hayward Customer Support (Canada) on MaxFlo Pump

Hi All, Just wanted to share with you the level of support I received from Hayward Canada. I'm not a shill for the Hayward - just a consumer that over the years has had mixed experiences with a variety of manufacturers, and I thought I'd share a positive one. I opened my pool this past weekend...

    OmniLogic losing Power-fix found!

Leaving this here in the event someone else has a similar issue. I installed an OmniLogic in 2016. Start up in spring 2018 the unit would constantly power down - tripping the GFCI for the main power on the Omni's onboard breaker panel. It tended to trip the GFCI more often when went the ambient...

    OmniLogic Network Trouble

I did speak with Hayward, they were unable to assist. Their ability to assist basically stopped when I told them the Omni was unable to find the Dynamic IP Address. They advised that if the network is working on my laptop, it should be working on the OmniLogic. I need to have a buddy who...

    OmniLogic & Landscape Lighting

Hi Kevreh - I want a bare bones transformer because there are fewer components that may fail down the road. I figure if I spend $150 on a transformer with zero features vs. $150 on one with photo cells and timers the stripped down version will likely have better build quality. Outside of that...

    OmniLogic Network Trouble

Hi All, Installed the OmniLogic last summer and after some effort configuring the wireless AP the network was up (TP Link PhaROS AP plugged into the OmniLogic LAN port) and all was well until I closed the pool. Upon opening the pool this season the OmniLogic won't connect to my network. I...

    OmniLogic & Landscape Lighting

Thanks Jim, Exactly what I was looking for. I had limited my Google search to Canadian Suppliers and for the most part they didn't ha e what I was after. I'm sure I can source that Pentair unit now that I know what I'm looking for.

    Leak- Please Help- So Frustrated

If that pipe is the main cause of your leak you'd see a substantial amount of water under the pump. About that pipe, it's on the pressure side of the system (the pipes that go from your drains and skimmer are on the suction side). The pressure side pushes water out of the pump, to the filter...

Which Control center is worth it?

I installed a Hayward OmniLogic last season. All of your existing equipment will work with the OmniLogic, and your T-Cell will plug right into it, replacing your Aquarite which will be redundant. The Omni will turn your pump on/off and can run it on a schedule. Same with your heater - the...

    OmniLogic & Landscape Lighting

Hi All, I have a Hayward OmniLogic that I'd like to use to control my landscape lighting. My current transformer is no longer working and need to replace it. Can someone point me in the right direction of a bare bones transformer? All I need is something that will convert 120V down to 12V. It...

Health Canada warns against exposure to Boric Acid

Since Canadians are already exposed to boric acid naturally through their diets and water, Health Canada is advising that exposure...

New Pump, SWG and Automation. Can someone advise if this is the correct equipment?

I ordered all of the above over the weekend from the company that built my pool. They were not very helpful at all specing the equipment. Interestingly enough, I called 3 pool guys, and 3 pool stores and none of them could have an intelligent conversation about this project. Most of them showed...

New Pump, SWG and Automation. Can someone advise if this is the correct equipment?

Hi All, I'd appreciate any insight into my upcoming project. My Zodiac Duo Clear SWG packed it in at the end of last season (after 8 seasons of trouble free operation), Hayward Tri-Star pump isn't long for this world and I'd like to add an automation system to my backyard. I'm thinking of...

New Pool Build Next Door - Green Water

Thanks all for reaffirming that I'm on the right path. Yes, the pump has been running 24/7 for sure. I can usually turn a funky pool around in 24 hours. The amount of time and volume of chlorine was unprecedented, thus my concern. We're also experiencing the peak pool weather of a very short...

New Pool Build Next Door - Green Water

Hi All, Our next-door neighbours have a new pool going in. During the construction process the heavy machinery has kicked up A LOT of dust and dirt and much of it ended up in our pool. Construction started last Tuesday, our pool went green Saturday AM and after 48 hours of SLAM-ing it hasn't...

Did I buy the wrong indicator solution?

I think the LPS ordered based on my description, "Taylor Red Phenol" rather than a part number because I wasn't specific enough. I'll monkey with this one to see if I can get it in the zone. Thanks for the help.

Did I buy the wrong indicator solution?

Hi TFP, I asked a pool supplier in the US to order me a replacement for the Red Phenol R-0004 that came with my Taylor K-2006. The sent me R-1003J and I'm not sure it the correct solution for the 2000 Series comparator that came with the test kit. Can anyone confirm if I can use R-1003 in a...

Test kits in Canada...and a water question about balancing..

Re: Test kits in Canada The Canadian Taylor distributor seems to have their pricing way out of line. You can have a TF-100 shipped to a Michigan address or pick up one of these from a Leslie location in Michigan. http://www.lesliespool.com/Home/Pool-Ch ... 81329.html The kit from Leslies...

    Yellow stains on fiberglass

While I can't help on the source of the stains, I get them on my fiberglass stairs at the beginning of every season. I scrub them out with a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser then they're gone for the rest of the season. I'm not sure if this is an option for you if the entire pool is stained.

    Changed my filter sand

The ants got in via the filter drain that was removed during the pool closing process. I could probably replace it a few weeks after I close the pool to prevent the ant infestation. I determined the filter required 300lbs, but I had no way to measure what was already in there to determine if it...

    Changed my filter sand

As a part of my pool opening this year (5 year old pool, 2nd season owning it) I decided to pop the top of my sand filter and see how things looked. I've read that you should consider changing the sand after 5 years and I wanted to see the general condition of the filters internals. The multi...

Bizarre Pool Edge - Breaks Leg

Glad you found a contractor to help you out. Had I been in your position I would have bought a pack of these http://www.homedepot.ca/catalog/decks-fences/172415 and see how well they match the height on the coping. If they're close to the transition I'd cover the entire deck and shim where...

The Monster that Lurks Over my Pool

I have a similar issue that I'm trying to solve. I have a Bitternut Hickory that drops catkins (long skinny flowers) and nuts into my pool all day. The skimmer acts like a giant tea strainer discolouring the water. The flowers don't all make it into the skimmer. Some float on the surface...

    8 foot Gator in Pool

I find muddy Raccoon footprints on my top step all the time. I haven;t caught them going for a swim. Now that I think about it there a potential for them to do some serious damage to the liner with their claws. :| I have to borrow my dads dog for a few nights to spook the little buggers.
