    Just an update....I give up. I called the local pool place and they are sending someone out. Thank you to all that replied and offered their advice.

    Ok, I am not sure what exactly i am trying to turn. I took the back plate off that exposes where the wiring is. I didnt see anytbinf that looks like it should be turning. I am sure this will be painfully obvious once pointed out to me, but I am at a loss.

    Would it matter if the previous motor was making the same humming noise before I replaced it?

    My electrician checked everything out and said that it is wired correctly. He also checked the voltage and said it is getting the required volts. I called a local pool store and they suggested that I remove the back cover of the motor and give the shaft a spin. Then I should turn the breaker...

    I replaced the motor on my Hayward pump. I have a Century USQ1102 1 HP 1Phase 60 Hertz motor. I replaced it tonight and it still just hums when turned on. Any ideas as to why it will not pump?
