Central NC reno of a plaster IG

I finally have a quote, seemed a little more expensive than I anticipated, compared to a quote I got a couple of years ago to understand what I would be looking at in terms of cost. Gonna call that company and see if they can submit a competing quote.

Central NC reno of a plaster IG

Pool is 40 x 17 approximately. I came up with a couple of options on how to move forward with getting the details on paying. Time to look at options and contact banks and builders to see if I can get something going. Will try to get the pics to post. Not cooperating at the moment.

Central NC reno of a plaster IG

Hi all, after looking at my pool wrecked for the last 2 years I plan to start renovations on it sometime this fall hopefully. I have just decided this in the last few days so I'll need to get the cash, develop a plan, find a builder, and finally start the build. I'll post some dimension and...

Importance of a pool builder if they contract out all work.

I'll take that into consideration. I did get a quote from a guy over the phone based on measurements for just my plaster and it was less than half the cost of the work quoted out by the builder. The builder would be adding tile to the stairs, a dolphin and pump, new pump, filter, and salt...

Importance of a pool builder if they contract out all work.

Thanks alot guys. The builder I talked to does pebble but said cost was 3x as much. I'll get a few names of plaster companies. The pool light needs a swap and the pipes need to be leak tested so I'll have to have that done. They also quoted a new pump and filter, which I may have them or...

Importance of a pool builder if they contract out all work.

I have never done gen contractor work but from what I can tell all plaster, tile, and stair work is done by the same crew. All left to manage from that end would be exchanging the light and leak testing pipes. Maybe I am over simplifying.

Importance of a pool builder if they contract out all work.

Hi, I was pricing my pool renovation earlier this month and the pool builder told me they contract out pretty much everything I asked them to do. Is it worth going through the builder if I already know who he will use or do I need them to manage the process? The middle man markup is...

    Plaster company in Central NC?

Hi all, I talked to a pool reno guy today and the price to repair my plaster and make a few other repairs was going to be 35-45k. They just do all the plumbing and electrical in house. I was wondering if I should talk to a plaster contractor and just get the other stuff done as components wear...

Am I being unreasonable? Grout in coping (other than places it's supposed to be)

Typically acid is used to clean up grout. If they go that route watch the travertine. That is limestone and HCl dissolves limestone.

    Repair plaster vs replace

Anyway to see this without breaking up the plaster? I didn't know that was a concern. I thought gunnite was along the lines of hydraulic cement. Always alot to learn. That was a sight unseen quote I just sent the measurements over.

    Repair plaster vs replace

Hi guys I have been out of the pool game over the last year since my plaster cracked from the tile line down to the bottom. I have been in contact with a contractor and repairs cost 1600 and replacement is $10.5k. I have around 3-4 major cracks and then around 6-8 lesser cracks. The cracks will...

Twin Heaters on one pump for large pool??

I have found the same answer with all forms of efficient home appliances. Tankless water heaters and HVAC units in particular. After research one or two above base level is the way to go on most purchases as efficiency increases never seem to be even close on rate of return. However, LED...

Twin Heaters on one pump for large pool??

Pump run time for filtration should be about the same. Assume the heater keeps the temp constant during that time they should run around the same amount. I am assuming pool heaters are either on or off like my basic understanding of home hvac tells me. I'd have to look a up specifics to...

Opening our new to us pool for the first time! Unveil the swamp!

I bought a toilet brush at the dollar store for my light and wall steps. Unless you just like knowing your CC, I wouldn't bother testing it until you are close to being done as you know the SLAM will not be done until the pool clears. On another note the process takes a while but I brought...

    Muriatic Fumes Update

Get to the Dr sir. That gas you whiffed was chlorine gas. I don't suspect there was enough exposure. Read the Safety Data Sheet for chlorine gas. Also note the volume of the area you did that in and your proximity. I'd go get checked out for that myself. Jared Sent from my SM-G930V using...

The other ingredients, as with most consumer commodity goods, is water. Active ingredient is Sodium hypochloride, have a look at the ol' Safety Data Sheet (SDS). Don't let others put any fear into your mind. All the chemicals used here are safe to use bare handed with the exception of...
