TA out of range for a long time

I ask this question from time to time. All of the chemistry in my pool is great. CYA 30 chlorine is good. PH is about 7.4 but the TA is 30. It has been that way for a couple of years now. I've been told not to worry. This is a long time to be so far out of range on a test. Are we sure it is not...

Replace LED Lights with 12V incandescent? (Jandy Watercolors)

I just replaced the bulbs in my light with an LED bulb. The regular bulb lasted about 2 years which is the same as yours. I replaced the bulb and the gasket. I really like the blue tint to the white LED light. I don't know if you have the skills but in my case I saved a lot of money and will...

Can't get wire from old light out

Hoping for a mechanics trick. I have a really old Amerilite pool light that is 12v and for some insane reason they put the wire in half inch electrical PVC. The wire is probably #12 and I am guessing near 100ft long. I believe all of the conduit is under concrete. When I had the liner installed...

CYA at 20 TA at 50

Not sure if I should worry about TA at 50 with PH at 7.5. Everything looks good. I haven't been fighting anything. What do you think? If I throw a little CYA in it wont do anything to the TA will it?

    Ph 7.2 ta 50

My favorite thing to do is nothing. I've managed this pool for about 10 years now on liquid chlorine, muratic acid and a little CYA from time to time to save some of my chlorine. I probably don't test as much as I should but the water stays clear. I can sense when it is time to kick a jug of...

    Ph 7.2 ta 50

My PH keeps walking up and I have been having to add acid to bring it down. This is always the cycle with this pool. The TA usually stays fairly well. This is the first time I have checked it in a while. If I add baking soda wont I end up adding acid to offset the PH increase?

    overpressure valve problem

I have Polaris 280 with a Polaris booster pump. I have had this for about 10 years and it worked great. There has always been a little water coming from the overflow valve where the clener connects into the pool. Who cares? It worked fine. I started it up the other day and the cleaner wasn't...

    Pentair SD80 valve part number

I have an SD 80 sand filter. The valve cracked on it and it is spraying water right where the pipe goes in from the pump. The part number says 272526 but below it has some more numbers that include 262506. When I search the internet I seem to be able to find the 262506 but not the 272526. Does...

Total alkalinity out of normal need help

2 of the gallons had 31.45%. To be honest I'm not sure about the rest. I got them from different places. I've always just need to add a quart or a half gallon and that was bringing the PH down. I have never had to work on TA. It always stayed in range.

Total alkalinity out of normal need help

I have been here 10 years. I have never had this problem. I just can't seem to get enough acid in my pool. My PH was coming down and the TA was coming down and I let it go for a little bit and it is climbing again. I am adding acid by the gallons. I think I've put 5 gallon in so far and I have...

Total alkalinity out of normal need help

Ive been adjusting my chemicals. CYA is 20 I had to add a lot of Muratic to get my pH to 7.8 Now my TA is 200 Water is clear. I've never had TA problems before. The PH tends to climb in this pool and I have to add acid occasionally. Nothing abnormal though.

    Starite chlorinator question

I had passed the three tests the night before. The overnight consumption was less than one. There was no detectable combined chlorine and the water is so clear you would think the pool was empty. I actualy have a couple of more personal tests that passed also. The water doesn't smell like burnt...

    Starite chlorinator question

It will probably be this weekend before I have time to take the chlorinator apart. I sure do appreciate the help. The chemicals seem to be straight and the pool is really clear. I do have another question though. If the check valve has a problem will it be obvious or visible? Is there some sort...

    Starite chlorinator question

I did a little research and I think the chlorinator is made by Pentair. I see there is a check valve in the base. I also found a place to get parts. There is also a top feed option. I'm not sure if that means 2 feeds or just switching from the bottom to the top. Does anybody know what would...

    Starite chlorinator question

https://store.pinchapenny.com/product/A ... e-02122505 Chlorine was detectable tonight. Id say CL .5 CYA a little less than 20 TA about 95 PH 7.5 I added 2 lbs dichlor (I am out of liquid) Just didn't have time to check the dispenser today. I really think I'm cool with the chemicals unless 12...

    Starite chlorinator question

I thought 12 was shock level based on the TFP chlorine chart. Actually the chart said 10 with no CYA but I decided to take it to 12 anway. If I am wrong about that level please put me straight. I'm not an expert. I was adding the chlorine at sunset and then adding it at sunset again. That is...

    Starite chlorinator question

This beast has me really frustrated. It turned green while I was out of town and has been swallowing chlorine all weekend. I can run it to 12 at night and it loses 5 overnight. Within 24 hours it has no detectable chlorine. I have been testing for 3 days now and the demand is the same. The water...

    Starite chlorinator question

Thanks Jason I hate typing on a phone also. I replaced the liner for my pool this winter. I live in Florida where we get tremendous rains every day in the summer. The pool get direct sun when it is not raining and it is big. I have always had to pump water out often to keep the pool from...

    Starite chlorinator question

I have a Starite puck chlorinator that came with the pool when I bought the house. It's never really worked right. I have the little valve turned all the way up but I have always gone a year between buckets of those pucks. I am told that if it was working properly I would have to buy a lot more...

New Liner New water New chemicals?

I know the ranges. I just wasn't sure exactly how to get the TA up without fighting the PH. I usually just have to add chlorine and a little CYA. The PH and TA have always been good. I got results from the calculator but it says not for setup.

New Liner New water New chemicals?

I just replace my liner so all of the water is new. It is groundwater. All I have added is chlorine. The calculator says it is not for setup. Cl 3.5 PH 7.2 TA 20 CYA 0 There didn't appear to be any combined chlorine. I've maintained the pool for about 4 years now. The PH and TA stays really...

Can't get the old light out

The liner guy was supposed to change the light with the liner. It's a 12 V 300 watt light. It must be in about 50 ft of conduit back to the transformer. It must make a 90 bend somewhere. He could not get the wire to pull back through the conduit so he could replace the light. They really should...

    intelliflo speed for backwashing

I searched around and didn't find the answer. I'm sure the question has been asked before. I just installed a bunch of new equipment and I'm not sure where to set the pump speed for backwashing the sand filter.

    New 11018 pump readings. Correct?

Thanks Jason, I expected more pressure in the sand filter. I was worried that I might have a air leak on the input side. I really love this site. I could have gone a tangent here if I didn't have help available. This thing is sweet. I was surprised. The fan motor draws air into the motor, as...

    New 11018 pump readings. Correct?

I installed a new Intelliflo 11018 with a D80 sand filter. I know I was advised to use a bigger filter but I just didn't have the cash. I think this one still has a lot more capacity than the 100 Sq Ft paper cartridge that I had. I just got it in this afternoon and haven't really had time to...
