Salt Level in a Non-Salt Pool

Hey Wireform, I appreciate the info. Would it make sense to get the salt levels dialed in first before installing the salt system equipment?

Salt Level in a Non-Salt Pool

I purchased a Circupool salt system for my parent's pool. Before installing I wanted to test the pool's salt baseline so I ordered the TAYLOR K-1766 SALT TEST KIT. To my surprise the pool's apparent baseline is 2800ppm for sodium chloride. Is that normal for a non-salt water pool? It took 14...

    Please Identify Light Housing

Can any of you identify this light housing? I need to replace the bulb and gasket. The bulb is a 12V. The only number I could find on the housing is 15916. Google did not show anything for this number. All the other stickers have faded.

    Need Help. (What is this?)

So I finally had some time to test this. I took the cover off and went over to the pool pump and turned the value to pull completely from the skimmer. It had no impact on this "jet" port. I turned the value to pull completely from the drain in the deep end. This had no impact on this "jet"...

    Need Help. (What is this?)

Yeah that's the issue, when I remove the cover and turn on the pump there is no suction or outward blowing pressure. Once the cover is removed it's just a threaded hole and I'm not sure where the plumbing goes. Here is what the cover looks like:

    Need Help. (What is this?)

I have 4 jets that work fine in my pool but I also have what looks to be a jet port that is covered. I removed the cover and there is no suction or outward blowing pressure. What is this for? It has been covered since I purchased the home.

Dark Spots (Possibly Rust) On Pebble Tec/ Diamond Bright

Before I purchased the home renters were living here. A few years back during hurricane season the renters threw the patio future into the pool to avoid the furniture being blown through the sliding glass doors. The furniture must have been in the pool long enough to cause rust stains. We...

Dark Spots (Possibly Rust) On Pebble Tec/ Diamond Bright

Thanks Guys, I have had black algae and was able to scrap off those black spots with ease with a stainless steel brush. Below is a picture of black algae I had on my steps. These other spots are something completely different.

Dark Spots (Possibly Rust) On Pebble Tec/ Diamond Bright

Hey guys I have had an issue with these dark spots in the pool since I've bought this house and they seem to be multiplying. I have tried vitamin C tablets on them and it has had no effect. I purchased the following device to use with muriatic acid but that also has had no effect...

    Equipment suggestions

Hey Isaac, I plugged in my numbers on the Hayward site and it looks like the pump would pay for itself in about three years. Quick question, how many turnovers a day should I be doing? I have an 8000 gallon pool which I am currently running the single speed pump at 8 hours a day. Is this to...

    Algae Problem (Sanitize Robot?)

Thanks for the advice. After I slam the pool I read that you need to disinfect your pool equipment so you don't reintroduce algae back into the pool. Should I just through all my pool cleaning tools into the pool while I am slamming? If so, for how long? What would be the best way to...

    Algae Problem (Sanitize Robot?)

Hello guys, I have been having what I thought was a pollen issue for the last few weeks. I would vacuum the entire pool clean but it would just go back to being covered in a yellow substance the very next day. I even bought a robotic vacuum (Dolphin Oasis Z5) to help keep the pool clean...

    Rust Spots

What should be the next step that I focus on? It has been raining here like crazy, should I just leave the pool alone and see if the chlorine drops and then address the PH if it's low? I see that my CYA is high, should I address that first? Not really sure where to go from here.
