Hello, problem with my Aqua Logic pool, uses AQL-PS-8 controller. My Aux 3 relay runs an Edge Pool pump. Recent problem now is when the Aux 3 runs (either via timed schedule, or when run Manually), the system shuts it down and goes into Service Mode. I can successfully run Aux 3 pump while in Service Mode, but as soon as I turn off Service, and try to run Aux 3 manually, goes right back into Service Mode.
This seems to be only happening with Aux 3 Edge Pool Pump, as I have Aux 5 running a Waterfall pump, and this Aux 5 runs fine via timed schedule, as well as running manually.
Any thoughts as to why Aux 3 Edge Pool Pump triggers the system to go into Service Mode? My system is around the 2006 timeframe, but all was running fine up until about late March 2024. thanks

Welcome to TFP.

Do you have an unused AUX?

Do you have an unused relay?

Have you tried moving your edge pump to another AUX or relay?

Thanks, that is a good tip. I do have Aux 6 available. I will move my Aux 3 Edge pump to Aux 6 and see how it reacts. thanks

I would like to add, I switched my Edge Pump from Aux 3 to Aux 6, and the pump now can be run via timer, or manual, without tripping the Service Mode. I did notice also that with the Edge Pump removed from Aux 3, I could still switch Aux 3 "ON" (though nothing to run), and the Pool continued to go into Service Mode after a few seconds (even though nothing was associated with Aux 3 anymore). So for now, Aux 6 is doing the job, and I will just not use Aux 3 (until at some point I figure out what is up with it). Thanks AJW22 for the work-around.

I have had the AquaLogic for almost 20 years now and never had something like that happen but I am a bit curious. I had one keypad fail on me.

One interesting fact is that the Aux3 and the Service Mode button do share a similar key code:

Aux3: 0x00000800
Service: 0x00000008

Shifted by 2 bytes. The error could be generated in the keypad unit or perhaps the central controller so I was wondering if this happening on the local keypad unit or a remote unit or both? It could be just a timing error for that particular key press or perhaps there is a key bounce occuring due to a mechanical issue. One thing you could do is take apart the keypads and look at the contacts for each key.

The local keypad is what goes into "Service Mode". I could take it off and perhaps spray some electronic contact cleaner on it. Though with the issue, I was not pressing the keys, as the Edge Pump is scheduled to run for 15 minutes each morning, and it is during the scheduled run, that the unit goes into "Service Mode" on its own (rather quickly after the Edge Pump Aux 3 was running per the 15 minute schedule).
