I don't come to the forum enough...(only with issues) and can normally find what I need with a good search, hoping some good karma from other forums I participate in (with actual useful information) will help my cause.

Long story short, mice chewing issues discovered during season opening. Replaced/taped/repaired many wires. System works aside from the SWG...Codes 186,181,172,145. which all point to the tri sensor. FRONT PCB board fails the 3 button tests (R-temp, H-Temp) which sure seems like it's a bad board. Before I try and find one (seems troublesome) could damaged wiring from the transformer be the root cause of the PCB malfunctions? The mice chewed some transformer wire insulation but not all the way through, I re-insulated the wire covers but wonder if a change in resistance or anything can cause downstream problems. (should I try to get away with just a transformer)

Realizing going a new route for SWG is probably a smarter option, I am not quite ready to throw in the towel on this if I can find parts. While electronics is not my strong suit I enjoy the tinkering and learning.

I ran out of daylight to complete the troubleshooting board tests and will be doing that tomorrow...All other functions with the power center work normally (pda controlled pump, heater etc)

Open to general suggestions...to include a cat

Not entirely opposed to a new SWG if it can be installed relatively seamlessly. (can live without remote automation but would like to keep existing power center etc)
Not married to salt if a chlorine system makes more sense...though quick search seems more involved than I initially thought.
Have been very happy with the system...once up and running its very low maintenance (pool balance side)

I have replaced the sensor....fingers crossed it was a quick fix (wasn't proud about throwing money at the problem) I do have the error codes/original troubleshooting paperwork thanks.

Issue I am having…my board version differs from the troubleshooting guide here

Can anyone chime in on what test points to use and what results I’m looking for? (Please be as specific as possible….brain challenged individual)

I am hoping to rule in our out board / transformer before trying to replace. Thanks for any help

I do not recognize the type of chip shown. Maybe @PoolGate @MSchutzer @ajw22 can shed some light on the older Jandy units.

11 year old system, mice damage effecting the SWG operations (see other thread) Generally happy with current setup, Automation controls lights, VS pump and SWG. I can't make much headway troubleshooting the SWG side of things without throwing money at it (is BPelectronics still a thing? did some interweb searching coming up blank) If I was confident a new transformer and board would solve my problem I would do it. Should I consider a new direction...are there plug and play (or at least DIY) options to replace the whole control setup? That seems a little over the top, or just bolt on a replacement 3rd party SWG and be done.

Buy a new system.

Mice damage can be unrepairable and not worth throwing money in to fix it.

Final Update for anyone using the search function.

Mice Damage over the winter, root cause began when I knocked out a hole in the case while swapping out the newer style tri-sensor in 2018....I did not use a wire grommet or protect the new hole at all (didn't enter my mind) 2024 pool opening casues repeated breakers tripping. Investigation reveals impressive mouse nest with 5 mice scurrying about while I disassembled the case.

I was able to find a back board and transformer for about $130 shipped (paalv5215 on ebay...excellent fast service/shipping) installed today and viola everything appears to be back on line.

This is the third mice issue I have encountered. (the cats died a few years ago and dog is good at barking but not catching I guess) My mastertemp heater was infested. (repaired with only swear words and electrical tape) Hot tub (seperate from pool) was infested...luckily no electrical damage but high gross out factor)

Moral of story,...specially here in the northeast. Protect your stuff from the mice. And don't hesitate trying to fix what might appear to be a lost cause. I consider myself a novice diy'r and wouldn't do work on anyone elses equipment....but with some simple safeguards and internet sleuthing I was able to save a few grand till the next failure.
