I ended up getting some from a local concrete company. When I called them on the phone yesterday, the man told me they don't sell concrete supplies, they pour concrete. I asked the man, Henry was his name, if he had a local supplier he could hook me up with , and told him what I wanted it for. After I talked to him for a few minutes, he said he would make an exception if I wouldn't tell anyone and to bring my own containers to put it in, so I did. I got (4) 5 gallon buckets full for 100$ and a case of Corona beer. (my kind of guy!) I have plenty of it now to last me for the next couple or 3 years. I'm pretty sure he just pocketed the 100$. He said he was going to give the beer to his concrete crew. Not sure if I believe that or not! :)

Sounds like you used liquid CYA? Did you add complete bottles with thorough rinsing of the bottle, or just partial bottles?

Yes, once a clump drops out, I always do that. Drop the bottle down in the pool, fill it, then swish and restart. Probably had to do that three times per bottle. That resulted in very few powder spots on the bottom to brush away.

This is the way.

And be aware that when adding partial bottles only, you may get less than expected, and when adding the rest of the bottle next time more than expected.
 
I didn't do anything to my pool today. We've just ordered an infrared sauna, so I have things to figure out :) Though I contacted someone for details, I still have questions. And it seems I'll need to call professionals to make sure everything is installed properly.

I did test do my first water test of the season. I was glad to see some FC still in the pool. I'm just adjusting salt by adding 2 bags to make the SWG happy. Not rushing to adjust the other values yet.

The lid on the MPV on the sand filter was spraying like a shower when the pump was at full speed. I removed the lid, then cleaned and lubed the gasket. Currently, everything is working great so I don't need a new gasket yet.

I tested my pool water today. Added CH, then tested again a few hours later. I also emptied the skimmer, and Wu-Tang the robot is running. The water is crystal clear and looks great.

Opened the pool this weekend. Took off the cover, adjusted the chemicals (just had to add CYA and Chlorine and salt). Got the salt water generator hooked up, ran all the robots. New giant schnauzer puppy fell into the deep end five minutes after getting the cover off. Wife saved her, now she seems to like my wife better then me (supposed to be my puppy) At least she is very careful around the pool now though she keeps looking at the steps like she wants to try to go in.. dog seems fascinated with water.

Ordered my refill kit as well. We got almost 4" of rain on Saturday. I'm kind of scared to peak under the cover and see how things look.

Honestly, it does not surprise me. SnowJoe (and their sister company SunJoe) do not make the greatest product. They are sort of a cut rate type of place.

I looked into them because back when I was unemployed, they were hiring for process improvement positions. Their HQ is 15-20 miles from my house. I looked at their product line, their market, etc. I don't think I would buy anything from them. I bought one of those expandy garden hoses from them once. It popped a leak in under a week. They did replace it no questions asked, I'll give them that, but I would rather it had not broke in the first place.

Yup. Lesson learned and I guarantee ya it won't happen again. What they call 50 lbs of Calcium Chloride cost me 24$ which is half the cost of everyone else. But in reality, I paid 24$ for a bag of salt !!!!!!!!!!!! That's what gets my goat the most. I guess that's what I get for trying to be cheap!

If it helps any, I was on the Mineral Springs turnip truck for 6.5 years. I was paying $38 per bag of fancy minerals. (Salt) and I needed 12 to 16 of them each spring. They're $50 each now.

You got off easy. 😁

No extra stuff (fabric enhancers) I hope. The last msds of it is clear but its from 2021. I haven’t laid my eyes on any in a while.
Our aldi has been carrying the chloralen plain & its fine to use.
