Hello from ENC - Pool Equipment Ready for Upgrade

Hello TFP. I'm here from Eastern North Carolina. I've been maintaining our fiberglass pool for roughly 7 years. It is a little shy of 16,890 gallons. My cartridge filter housing is in need of replacement and so is my pump. The pool was put in by the previous owners in 2015 and I moved in to the house in 2017. The fiberglass is starting to show a calcium scum line around the top so I'm sure I'll be doing some research on that. A friend recommended this site so that is why I am here. As far as the equipment goes, I would like to upgrade. The filter housing is fiberglass and is starting to crack. I've patched it and now the sun is starting to take its toll. Thinking about going to a sand filter but may stick with what was working. As far as the pump goes, I've had that rebuilt once. That is starting to leak as well and looks like it would crumble from all the rust. It is a .5 HP single speed. I would like to upgrade that as well.

Thanks for the reply. I wish I had a heater but I don't. It is a salt water pool. Attached are pictures of my equipment. They are older pictures so it doesn't look to bad there. The screen is in need of replacement on my pool pilot. I can still read it at certain angles...haha. I am interested to hear your thoughts on upgrading any of this.

I really appreciate you sending that information. For the filter housing, does the housing matter that much since the filters could be changed to any manufacturer? I am not sure if my SWG has bit the dust or not. It has been a few years since I have changed that out. I went the cheap route and found a company that does an exchange... I'm guessing that most of these SWG's will work with my Pool Pilot?

Filter housings need to withstand the outdoors. A high quality filter should last 20+ years sitting outdoors and not crack.

Filter cartridges need to be a specific size to fit a filter.

I don’t know what you are asking. A Pool Pilot SWG cell will only work with the Pool Pilot controller.
