Our PB says that we won't be able to use auto pool cover if we do a rolled edge (this is the image of the rolled edge I shared with the PB) for the spa (spa is inside the pool perimeter). The PB said that the rolled edge does not allow for room under the coping for the cover track. Instead, they are proposing what they call a "comfort edge" (photo attached) where the back of the bench is pulled out a little beyond the coping and then there is a little lip back before going up to the coping. Has anyone run into this issue where you can't do a rolling edge due to the pool cover?

I'll be the guy.... What??

I think your question is... "Can an auto cover go over the spa?"

If that's your question, and the spa is inside the pool perimeter, then yes. It can.

I'm not exactly sure what you're asking about the comfort edge? I think you're saying that's the pool builder's solution, but I'm not sure why that'd be better. From your picture it doesn't look like the comfort edge provides any clearance to put an auto cover track under either...

Hopefully someone else will come along that will answer your question but all I'm feeling is confused.

Thanks @Blueskies21! Yes, you answered my question. Our PB is saying that the auto cover can't go over the spa that is inside the pool if we do a rolled edge. But from your response, it seems like it can.
Ok... so I Google'd "rolled edge pool" and MAYBE what they're saying is... the rolled edge can't be the BACK edge that the cover bumps up against. I might believe that...

So they might be suggesting that "comfort edge" so there's still a flat lip for the front bar of the auto cover to bump up against.

I'm not so sure you couldn't still do a rolled edge as a back wall that the cover will bump up against if you understand it might not close 100% but leave a 1 inch gap because of that roll.

Again, not an expert but maybe someone else will come along and confirm or deny me.

Rolled edge is what the "this" link is to. And the PB is correct that an autocover (which does not have deck tracks) cannot be installed on that type of pool. The track needs to go under the coping.

I agree that you could have a rolled edge on the "open" end of the pool only. But that might look incongruous with the other sides of the spa. I'd be more likely to have a rolled edge on the two internal spa walls (of a square spa) and have the two outside edges be traditional for consistency around the pool. Having the rolled edge spa on the internal wall is a key to allowing the autocover to safely and repeatedly slide over any exposed corner (especially when it rains and the cover is pulled down to the surface, or if someone walks on the cover.
