Opening pool numbers, what to do?

Pool is crystal clear! Levels are all good. Kids went swimming yesterday, they are nuts... only 61 degrees (surface temp)!!! Thank you Poolstored for the great advice and keeping me focused on the right way to do things.

Opening pool numbers, what to do?

Great! Step 3 done, no issues. Going to proceed with the CYA and SLAM, and will report back. It will probably take some time... thanks again!

Opening pool numbers, what to do?

I added too much baking soda... not sure what happened but it's up to 100. I used the calculator. PH is at 7.4 now. Is 100 TA a problem?

Opening pool numbers, what to do?

I did a good job of cleaning before I closed and had a safety cover on all winter, so not a lot of leaves. Likely a dead critter or two.

Opening pool numbers, what to do?

Thanks guys, really appreciate the help. One more piece of info, water is green, visible algae. Didn't realize until I just now pulled the whole cover off.

Opening pool numbers, what to do?

A year old (I think) could be older Edit: just checked, almost exactly 1 year old. Retested, still getting 10 ppm. PH is definitely low. The Ph test resulted in yellow that was a little off the chart (less than 7.0)

Opening pool numbers, what to do?

It's been a while since I read that, thanks. Do you recommend I do an oclt as a first step here?

Opening pool numbers, what to do?

FC 0 Cya 0 PH 7.0 (maybe a little less) TA 10 Salt 400 ppm I'm planning on slamming first, then getting FC and cya numbers in order, then I'll test everything again and figure out how to address PH and TA. Is this the correct order?

Installing safety cover and closing - Water Height

I'm just realizing that emptying it only 18" will actually make it tough to winterize in the first place, since the return jets will be underwater. Maybe I drain it where it needs to go to winterize, and then make sure it's filled up to 18" before we get the snow and ice that will weigh the...

Installing safety cover and closing - Water Height

I get that, thanks. The question remains: Do I ultimately go lower than 18" below the coping against the safety cover directions but below my return jets so ice doesn't reach the (covered and winterized) jet height? Or 18" max and not worry about ice outside the return jets Thanks, I get what...

Installing safety cover and closing - Water Height

LOL I always do that... The Intakes are 2 skimmers (basically in the surface) and the return jets are the lowest part that I'm concerned with. I do blow everything out as described (although I don't know what bungee plugs are?), and cap the returns once I get as much of the water out of the...

Installing safety cover and closing - Water Height

I'm installing a mesh safety cover this fall for the first time, directions say that you shouldn't let the water drop more than 18" below the pool edge with the cover on, for proper support of the cover by the water's surface. When I close the pool I always drop the water down much lower to...

Pool Cover Anchors in grass, pavers, gravel, etc

Anyone else? BPerry's method looks like it will work great, but he really just extended his concrete deck, which isn't possible in my case.
