Gonna need a new liner soon .....

Cover is almost always closed when not in use....lots n lots of trees. I do plan to establish a more thorough regiment when I invest in a new liner..... doubling efforts to make sure FC and CYA are kept as exact as possible.

Gonna need a new liner soon .....

No auto fill. I live in farm country. There is an ag field within 30 yards of the pool. Percentage the SWG runs greatly depends on water temp .... now that summer is here and the pool is constantly in the upper 80's I run the pump 24 hours a day and right now the SWG is at 35%. I try to...

Gonna need a new liner soon .....

Pool was put in in late 2013 and the liner already looks terrible. Very faded. I use a SWG so continued high chlorine count is not a real problem but it is what the installer blamed for the rapid fading. My pool does have the unique quality of consuming CYA each year. I have never, not once...

    Trouble with cya

Just a quick update, the weather has been pretty cool here so I haven't really done anything with it. I did measure yesterday and even though the salt cell hasn't been on in a week there was still a free chlorine count of about 2 parts per million. I brought in a water sample let it get to room...

    Trouble with cya

I do have 3 deck jets that are used occasionally.....and I do lower my pH about twice a year. I don't recall my TA ever falling below 200. I've never worried about it specifically because I keep the pH in check and figure the TA is what it is.....

    Trouble with cya

My TA has always been high....220-250 is what it always reads. PH creeps up over the course of the summer and I lower it a couple of times but the TA hovers in the same range. I've gotten the CYA test to work with the high TA readings previously. - - - Updated - - - I will order some fresh...

    Trouble with cya

CYA tested again with water that had been inside the house for an hour.....0. FC 6 Calc 150 TA 250 PH 7.7 All of those were just tested with water straight from the pool.

    Trouble with cya

Another thing .... I dont close my pool until late November or early December and I open it pretty early. Even though Im in southern Indiana I let the water get cold enough before closing and open while it is still cold enough to not have any "green" water problems. I did check the chlorine...

    Trouble with cya

Maybe I lost it all last winter as well and fought the problem all summer long without realizing it .... At least I caught it as early as possible this year. I will take a new sample test .... bringing it into the house for a few hours to raise the temperature before doing the test. Whatever...

No auto fill. Last August for the 70PPM test and today for the 0.

    Trouble with cya

I tested twice today....first time I took water straight from the pool and tested it. The second test I waited with the water in the mix bottle for several minutes to let the water warm up. I do not know the temperature at the time of the test though. I do not have a 50 test mix to verify...

    Trouble with cya

Salt water vinyl liner pool....last year I started having trouble maintaining my chlorine level. Every few days I was having to increase my run percentage on my salt cell to keep up. I figured I just had a cell beginning to go bad until I noticed the liner beginning to fade. Scramble mode kicked...

    ugh! Need to vent

I might pop that bearing off and see about sourcing a replacement .... just to have a spare pump. The other one has already been ordered and paid for. Depending on how much water got to it the motor itself may be bad .... it is salt water pool and salt water and those various metals dont play...

    ugh! Need to vent

lol ... of course I left it out all winter. How else is a person supposed to learn lessons other than the hard way. :) I decided on and ordered a Hayward TriStar VSP that I believe will work with the automation I have.

    ugh! Need to vent

Last fall my 14 month old Hayward Sp2600 pump started making noises and leaking water .... it was time to button up the pool for the winter so I just drained the pump, ran some anti-freeze through it and forgot about it until this week. I decided to go out this morning and take the pump apart...
