    Feeling helpless with plaster stain

Hi, It wasn't that I expected the puck marks to go away. I had the pucks on there for days and it wasn't doing anything. I think I had left them on for about a week or so. Even then when I removed them the spots were not like what you see in the picture. It faded a bit more over time. It...

    Feeling helpless with plaster stain

Hi All, First, I'd just like to thank the members of TFP for being so incredibly helpful. After buying a home with a pool 4 years ago, this website/forum has saved me and helped me manage my pool. There was a point where I felt like a total expert. But then... I developed this staining in...

    Do I need to SLAM?

Last question. I brought the FC up to SLAM at 16 and I'm doing an OCLT. If it passes the test, is the pool actually safe to swim in at FC right at SLAM level, or do I need to let some burn off first?

    Do I need to SLAM?

Greetings all, We just returned from a 3 night trip. Before leaving I brought levels up to what I believed would cover the duration away. Sadly it did not. When returning this morning: FC 0.5 CYA: 40 PH 7.6 I had some algae lines just under tiles in some areas of pool. A year or two ago...

    Is green always algae?

Tests below - I have to do some balancing: FC = 2.5 PH = 7.2 TA = 80 CYA = between 10-30. Went to top @ 30 could still see dot, so its low CH = 230 Photo attached, although I know photos are tricky. @Richard320 - My wife does not craft so I don't have polyfill. I will do the paper towel trick.

    Is green always algae?

Yep, I need to get back out there in a few to run all tests. I don't have CYA reading yet which I know helps understand the 2.5 which is likely too low. I just looked again looks like green is somewhat fading, but that doesnt give me comfort. I also just put a Culator in the pump basket...

    Is green always algae?

Hi All, My pool guy came to open the pool last week. Shocked the pool then left it to do its ting for a few days. All algae died and fell to bottom. I put in some pucks in a floater. I had to leave for a business trip for a few days. When I came back water was crystal clear but needed to...

    Taylor 2006 cya test

Is there any other way to test for cya that is a bit more exact? I love the kit and how precise all the other tests are via droplets/mixing, but I'm never fully confident on the little black dot test. Is it still there? Can I really see it any more? Is it "just" disappeared etc.

    Combined Chlorine

Thanks Richard. Normally I do the .5 testing but since it was my first test I thought I'd just get as accurate as possible. Appreciate the quick response. While I have you do you have any good recommendations for where to get best prices on replacement chems for a Taylor k-2006?

    Combined Chlorine

Hi, My pool company opened my pool several days ago. It's been cold and I hadn't done a proper kit test till this morning. My readings were OK, except light on FC which I added. I've never dealt with CC before. Is a 0.4 reading OK or do I need to do anything? Readings before adding...

Just getting some green around top walls of plaster

Mr Bruce, Thanks for reply. Interesting comment. Yes, I only have one skimmer and two return ports directly beneath the skimmer. I angle them both in one direction in hopes to generate best circulation, however that could very well be the issue as the green mostly appears on the opposing...
