It is a very interesting thing. You would think the higher the CYA the less chlorine you would have to put in everyday (compared to the chart). My CYA is at 50 and I had to put in 2 gallons of chlorine last night.

CYA-50 PH-7.8 FC-4.5 CC-0 TA-150 My readings as of 30 minutes ago. I think I am pretty happy with it. Just need to stay on the Chlorine every night. I do have a question though. Why does lower CYA require less chlorine and why do we not want lower if it requires less?

When we bought the house last fall the chlorinator was so packed full and was clogged up. It was a mess getting it all out and flowing again. Lawd I hope we never have to drain our pool, as we don't have a drain at the bottom so we would have to get a pump to pump it out. I just got back from...

😆 Hopefully next year we will be saying the same thing.

Now I wanna go buy it today to do. FYI Amazon sells knee highs 😆 (didn't know they were still around). Might be able to talk the hubby into it then. At our old house our neighbor had a saltwater pool, but it was green 3/4 of the summer. I'm trying 😁 I still have some pucks in the chlorinator...

Thank you so much for all of your/y'alls help. I know one day I will have all of this down.

We are pretty much a 5-month season. May, June, July, August, and maybe 1/2 of September. We have talked about getting a heater, but we don't have gas out here and we are really waiting on that. Country living. Why does a SWCG only last 5-8 years? Google is going to hate me today. I will search...

I will get some this weekend and raise it some. Why a sock and not dissolve and put in the pool? Just curious.

I JUST mentioned this to my husband about 30 minutes ago. He said "yeah but what is their cost of upkeep compared to ours?" I said IDK

How do you raise you CYA levels? I guess I am at the lower end of good, so would it hurt to raise it 10? I have 1/2 a bucket of chlorine tabs left and a whole unopened bucket of shock (that I had just bought last time at the pool store). I will save/keep as a very last resort. 🤷‍♀️

Any recommendations on a cover. We had looked at the beginning of summer but just never bit it and gave up looking.

Yall are definitely hotter than we are. Our heat wave came while we were in Fla on vacation.

Didn't realize you could lose so much in a day. So, Pool math is telling me for 9 to add almost 2 gallons of 10%. I am so glad I got the kit to keep track of all the levels.

So, I did my chlorine test this morning 2x almost 2 hours apart. It pretty much dropped 4 points in the past 24 hours. It read 3.5 both times. Is that a normal daily drop?
