Can I start adding CYA if my chlorine level is 15?

Well the last little bit of black algae seems to be gone. How long should I keep the chlorine level elevated to be on the safe side? I think I have read 2-3 days. Do you agree?

Can I start adding CYA if my chlorine level is 15?

To Etchase. It is on both the tile and grout. But it was clear for a year. However I didn't keep up with the chemical balance and so I think it's mostly my own fault.

Can I start adding CYA if my chlorine level is 15?

Thanks again. I am worried though about using a wire brush on tile. No one seems to consider tile when they talk about pool surfaces. On the pool calculator I use plaster as the closest choice. And I did read TFP's write up on black algae ( and several others) . That's my starting point.

Don't know how to add a picture, but I tried. We have had black algae before when our pool was plastered. Now it is tiled. Anyway. It's black and hard to scrub off and looks green when you scrub it.

One other question. The guide I got from TFP for Saltwater pools is to have the CYA level be 70-80. You are recommending 30. Is that a starting point so I don't add too much?

Can I start adding CYA if my chlorine level is 15?

I have a black algae problem and so I raised the chlorine level to combat it. However I forgot to test the CYA level. When I did it seems to be 0 (not a test I have a lot of faith in). The CYA manufacturer recommends a chlorine level of 1-4 before beginning. Is that really necessary? If so I...

The power supply/programming module is almost impossible to change. Only the on/off button works. How long have you had the calimar titanium? some threads have said it's not reliable. Thanks for the input

need new swg for aging plaster pool advice please

I have an old 10500 gallon pool. I live in Hawaii and the plaster is in bad shape so it take a lot of chlorine to keep it clear. My circupool rj60 swg is on its last legs - starting to leak and I can't reprogram it easily. What would be a good replacement. I saw the calimar titaninium at a great...

    compupool command module overheating

Recently had problems with module's time being thrown off several times a week. After a while, realized it was overheating (saw it happen) and turning off and messing up the time. I cut back % from 60 to 40 and it is still overheating. Any ideas? pH 8 FC 4 CC 0.5 TA 110 CH 400 Cya 40 Salt 3330...

connect a variable speed pump to old intermatic control?

Forgive me if I am asking dumb questions, but I am trying to understand how it all goes together. I have a separate pump for the pool sweeper. Would the variable pump replace that? I am thinking of buying the intelliflo. If it can replace the other pump using a higher speed on the variable, I'm...
