    Pool Fill Discoloration Cycle

After reading your suggestion I researched DE on TFP and decided this was the thing to try. DE made all the difference in filtering out the small "dusty" particles to clear up my pool. I'm sold on using DE to get a polished look to the water. It's the clearest our pool has been in years !!

    Pool Fill Discoloration Cycle

Update: I had the water tested and there was 0 iron in it and 0 iron in my softened supply water so that ruled out iron problems. I took a sample of the stuff on the bottom of the pool and put it in a mason jar in the sun and found it was definitely some sort of algae. So I SLAMMED the pool...

    Pool Fill Discoloration Cycle

Thanks for the replies. I'll get the water tested today. It definitely goes through the softener, I can see the usage on the electronic meter as it's filling the pool. Softener is fairly new and we don't have any staining issues in the house so that's the puzzling part When I run it through...

    Pool Fill Discoloration Cycle

Having problems when I add water (softened). I'm still getting some iron or minerals (or something) through the softener b/c my water turns slightly cloudy and there's a greenish tint to it. After letting it settle (usually over night) I vac it out to waste but eventually have to add more water...

Maintenance or replacement of a Hayward sand filter

Thanks for the deep cleaning information and video. I tried it tonight and am hopeful it will help my situation (cloudy water that just won't get clear like it's supposed to even after SLAMming). I'm glad I saw this and tried it before replacing the sand in my filter. TFPC to the rescue again!!

    Taylor 2006 Reagent Reuse

2nd year TFPCer's simple question - Can I use the reagents from last summer or do I need to replace them when I re-open in the spring? They were stored in the garage all winter. Thanks!

    Should I raise my CYA?

I do appreciate all of your responses. I will perform the overnight test to make sure it isn't anything else in addition to the losses due to the sun and adjust my CYA to 40 after testing. Is it best to raise CYA at night or can I do it anytime during the day?

    Should I raise my CYA?

Current levels this morning: (water is clear and have had ZERO problems this year - :D ) PH - 7.5 FC - 2.5 (added 33 oz. bleach and have been maintaining a level of 4) CC - < .5 TA - 150 CH - 180 CYA - < 30 ( the water in the tester at the 30 level is about 3/4 clouded out so I would say...

    Recommended Levels for my pool

First post and new to TFP !! Used the SLAM method for the first time this year and had great success. Our pool is very clear and things seem to be going well. There is always a stated "range" of where the various levels should be, but I was wondering if you had suggestions as to where they...
