deep cleaning a sand filter - inside a pool shed?

You could also use a wet/dry shop vac as there is a level of water above the sand. You would have to turn on off the water and shop vac to empty it and restart. This would be meticulous and and a lot more time consuming than a regular deep clean but just a thought.

    Taking over pool care

Wulfdan ... friend type of advice. You know that the correct sand is a better option than Zeosand. Get some new sand and a shop vac and in a short time you won't have to worry or think about sand as an issue. It will be a great time to inspect your laterals also.

Need help with Conversion (Baquacil to Chlorine)

I made the conversion. I had struggles before we had Identified CDX as an issue. During the conversion I could not hold FC during sunlight hours but it would hold during darkness, (It was like I had no CYA). I used a lot (again a lot) of Chlorine. I was determined that wither the TFP...

    High filter pressure

Yes it seems that your gauge is defective. Pressure should be 0 (zero) when the pump is off. TFTestKits.net offer good units at a fair price.

    Cannot hold Chlorine!

... to a Moderator ...this should probably be moved to Baquacil conversion thread area. Andrew I struggled, it was driving me nuts. The pool would hold chlorine at night, but lose it massively during daylight. I did a 5 gal bucket test. Took pool water at night after dosing, put it in...

    Cannot hold Chlorine!

Hello and welcome to TFP. I too converted from Baquacil and had a similar experience with pool not holding chlorine in daylight. Did you use their CDX product with the Baquacil? .... your signature did not display you equipment etc. Bill

New pump - did I overdo it?

Sand in the pool would usually mean that it has gotten thru the lateral, generally this would point to a broken lateral. You should not be getting it out the discharge either unless you had a very high flow rate. That being said I think it might be possible that the sand level is so low that...

    Legality or replacing light cord

I assume you are using 120V as of the age of the light. You could convert to 12V AC. The risk from shock then would be negligible. You would need to get 120 v to 12 v transformer (mounted in a dry environment). If you used a 300 watt 12 v bulb you would probably need to run a new...

pool solar cover causing ph rise

A couple of things; You have listed cc of 6.5 I assume that that is a typo, since fc was also 6.5 if it is not a typo we have a problem. The PH test will not be accurate when FC is greater than 10. So on that particular day the results are invalid. The FC chlorine loss is from two...
