Dry acid made black stains in plaster. Can they be removed?

No we haven’t. We’ve used a nylon brush before. I’ll give that a try. Thanks!

Dry acid made black stains in plaster. Can they be removed?

Hi everyone, Welcome to the swim season! We have black stains in our grey pool plaster from adding dry acid that wasn’t diluted enough. We did it when we were new inground pool owners. Our plaster was redone in 2015. Ever since then we’ve had a difficult time with high PH and high calcium...

Need input: Install heat pump on concrete pad or condenser pad?

Thanks ps0303! I’m checked on the codes today. The AquaCal manual states concrete or other materials that meet code. County code says whatever the manufacturer recommends. I’m concerned about the amount of vibration with the condenser pad since all of the other equipment is on concrete. Thanks...

Need input: Install heat pump on concrete pad or condenser pad?

Thanks for the great idea! We’ll look into the precast concrete! Unfortunately the DIY is difficult since we’re both mobility impaired. Thanks!

Need input: Install heat pump on concrete pad or condenser pad?

Hi, we are finally adding a heat pump to our set up. Unfortunately our equipment pad (concrete) is not large enough to handle any heat pump (we are considering the AquaCal Heatwave 166R). The installer is recommending a condenser pad. He could install a concrete pad for $850 more. Is the...

    Do you have pool regrets?

Hi there, We live near Sacramento (Fair Oaks). Last year we moved into a home that had an inground pool that needed major repairs. For 5 years before we had an above ground pool. We needed up putting in about $26,000 (cash) into the pool for new plaster, new plumbing, new drains, light, pump...

Idea on adding Bleach - in sheer descents?

I add it either in our sheer descent fountain or in front of a return. Caution - avoid the bleach that is splashless. Our experience it causes major foam and bubbles. Must be an added chemical of some kind. Sounds like you're doing great with the BBB! Thanks, Liz

    Ultra Frame 14x42

We had an Intex 12 by 20 and had the same experience! We have 2 rambunctious twins and their friends play hard in that pool for at least 4 summers. Pool did fine. Loved that pool! We only gave it up for we moved to a house with an inground one. Enjoy yours!

    Pool Floor Cleaner advice please

When we had our Intex pool (12 by 20), we used the Hayward Wanda the Whale. She did a great job cleaning the pool. It runs around $120. She was easy to use and the floor was always clean. We have an inground pool now, but I miss her!

How or where do you house your pool pump and filter?

Hi everyone! It's almost swimming season! I hope this is the right place to post this question: What do you house your pool pump and filter in? We did a complete remodel of our pool that was built in 1967. When we replaced the old pump and "silver bullet" filter, we tore down the old pump shed...

Base layer foam or sand please comment. Is foam as soft as sand for aboveground pool

We had a base of sand with foam board on top of it. Then we placed a blue tarp over the foam board. It had a good soft feel to it. I think we first had to dig out all of the tree roots and then use sand to level the ground. We installed an Intex 12 by 18 foot pool. Very enjoyable to swim in...

Concerned Contractor used wrong plaster color

Well it's been a little over a month, and the color of the pool water was cured to a color I'm happy with! Thanks for all of your advice and support! Now I can't wait until swimming weather! I'm not sure what color mix the contractor used. He does use Diamond Brite Quartz; however, the name he...

Concerned Contractor used wrong plaster color

Hi And5555, thanks for checking in! Can't tell today because of the rain and clouds. It was looking a little bit lighter, but I'll wait for a sunny day to take pictures. I'm so relieved to know your pool color changed a lot in the first month! Thanks!
