    time to replace?

Sorry, its actually an inrush current limiter. You can get the part at Digikey (part# 570-1062-ND): http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/SL32%202R025/570-1062-ND/363379 The site you posted earlier has a video on how to solder. If you're not comfortable soldering, buy the part and take it...

Also, the procedure for mustard algae states that, once you pass the 3 tests for SLAM you need to raise FC to mustard algae level for an ADDITIONAL 24 hours.

    1st Time Slammer!

Also, if you use only bleach to add FC, your CYA number shouldn't change unless you are back washing a lot or getting a lot of splash out. Keep dosing for a CYA of 75 ppm.

    CYA Test Differences

You could ask your pool person if she can get some R-7065 CYA Standard Solution. Or order some from tftestkits.net This standard should read 50 ppm CYA with whatever tester you use. If you do, please let us know what you find!

You said returns were blown out and plugged over the winter, but the return plate broke over the winter? Did the lines have antifreeze in them? My plugs have an o-ring that seals against that plate. If a plate were to break, and fall out of place, water could leak into the return piping...
