Well its not the temperature as much as the drying out of something that is constantly wet. The high temperature, drying it out completely the rubber wheels, gaskets, and plastic.

So I installed a new Hayward S310 and Multi-port valve this week. My pool was full of dirt from not having a filter for a month. I've got most of it cleared out. My starting pressure is 20psi and will rise to 30psi within an hour or so. But if I shut it off and back on again, the pressure goes...

I had considered that but being that the pipe is 27" high, I don't think I would get much lateral support from that. It shakes in all directions.

the pump is bolted into the concrete. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out a way to support that pipe but the problem is, its way up in the air. see pic.

Well the only thing that leaked was the stupid drain plug.

I got those unions you recommended and they fit just fine side by side at the valve. I posted pics in an update above. Thank you very much

UPDATE So I had to improvise a few things from my original plumming design. Everything is connected but I ran out of daylight so I'll start it up in the morning. Feed back is always welcome. If you see something I did wrong, please tell me LOL.
