    Hayward SP714A vs SP714T

Good ideas. I may just replace the whole thing. Thanks!

    Hayward SP714A vs SP714T

Thanks! That makes sense. Is there a reason (pro or con) to just get the body? It looks like this would fix my problem since the leak is on the body. Although a complete replacement might be just as well since I don't know how old it is and will have it all apart anyway.

    Hayward SP714A vs SP714T

I opened the pool yesterday with hardly any issues. When I started the pump, water started leaking out of a crack near the pressure gauge in the multiport. It isn't leaking too badly so it's not a big deal. I plan to try epoxy to stop the leak first but I was searching for a new replacement...

Tired of Hauling Bleach - Let's fix the SWG

I'll add my .02 regarding the Taylor salt test. Whether you get results that match the SWG or results that are different, the SWG will only work when it's satisfied with the salt level. It won't care what another salt test result is. If the SWG is happy, then I would be happy. My only...

First Timer!! Have AIR BUBBLES out of returns?? Pressure Test Kits Available?

Since you have a SWG, they produce bubbles at the returns when they operate. It's supposed to happen but can look like an air leak. Turn off the SWG and see if the bubbles disappear to rule out the SWG.

    Is this cell bad?

Thanks for the quick reply. I'll let the water warm up and I bet that will solve the problem.

    Is this cell bad?

I opened the pool last weekend (Yay!) and the water was nice and clear (YAY!) but my Aquarite SWG said the salt level was at 1800 ppm and wouldn't produce chlorine. I had emptied out some water when I closed and added some when I opened so it was plausible that the salt level was accurate. My...

    Pool losing water after closing!

If the gizmo is the leak source and they left some pipe disconnected at the pad the water could be running into the skimmer line to the pad and draining out at the pad. The outlet would have to be lower than the skimmer though. If that's it, it's an easy fix. I hope that's all it is. It's...

Air locking the main drain this year!

Maybe it would help if I posted a photo of my valve. I assume it's not repairable but since I don't know what kind it is, that's a blind assumption. There's no obvious damage......it just won't hold an air lock. Here's a photo...

Air locking the main drain this year!

What's a guy gotta do to buy a valve on-line? I've looked high and low for a 2-1/2 inch ball valve that has a union also and can't find any on any of the pool parts sites including amazon. Plenty of 1", 1-1/2", 2" and 3" but no 2-1/2". I measured and am fairly confident 2-1/2" is what I need...

Air locking the main drain this year!

Thanks for the input. I realized the valves also need a union included and I don't think Jandy offers one. It appears Praher does so I may go that way. I did use an expanding plug with a shrader valve in the pump inlet last fall. It had to cover the main drain and both skimmers. When I...

Air locking the main drain this year!

Last year, while trying to air lock my main drain I think I damaged my existing ball valve. I would blow air into the main drain line and could see bubbles coming from the main drain. I closed the valve and when I opened it to see if the air lock held, water was on the other side. It didn't...

    Advice on tarp please

Some companies offer longer anchors for pavers. They are about a foot long if I remember correctly and are meant to be driven into the ground. If you choose to do that, I'd increase the size of the cover. Otherwise, the straps between the cover and the anchor may not be long enough.

I need to find out where my underground plumbing is in order to put in new fence post

I assume you have PVC lines. If you have copper, a metal detector would help. Also, I'm not sure if I actually saw this or I'm making it up but what about calling a plumber to come put a special snake in the lines from the pool side that transmits a signal that can be received above...

I'm Thinking of Making a Bypass to Replace my SWG in the Winter.

When I replaced a cell last year I kept the dead one for just this reason. I take the new one in for the winter to keep it out of the elements and put the dead one in to keep critters out. I've been meaning to cut the cord (literally) on the dead one so I know which is which.
