Thanks! That makes sense. Is there a reason (pro or con) to just get the body? It looks like this would fix my problem since the leak is on the body. Although a complete replacement might be just as well since I don't know how old it is and will have it all apart anyway.

Since you have a SWG, they produce bubbles at the returns when they operate. It's supposed to happen but can look like an air leak. Turn off the SWG and see if the bubbles disappear to rule out the SWG.

If the gizmo is the leak source and they left some pipe disconnected at the pad the water could be running into the skimmer line to the pad and draining out at the pad. The outlet would have to be lower than the skimmer though. If that's it, it's an easy fix. I hope that's all it is. It's...

Some companies offer longer anchors for pavers. They are about a foot long if I remember correctly and are meant to be driven into the ground. If you choose to do that, I'd increase the size of the cover. Otherwise, the straps between the cover and the anchor may not be long enough.

When I replaced a cell last year I kept the dead one for just this reason. I take the new one in for the winter to keep it out of the elements and put the dead one in to keep critters out. I've been meaning to cut the cord (literally) on the dead one so I know which is which.

What make and model of SWG do you have? Assuming it's not a proprietary brand you could probably cut the wires and re-insert them in a new generic jack from a local store. Depending on which one you have, I bet others that model can send pictures of the wire order to help.

I get a little sand on the step too. I wondered if I had a cracked lateral in my sand filter (I see you have a DE filter though...). It filters just fine so I doubt it with such a small amount of sand escaping. Then I wondered if it's just dirt I notice more readily on my white stairs compares...

My first thought would have been a dirty screen or filter but you have that covered. You might take the water valve apart and force air or water through each pipe to narrow down the problem.

Great news! That sounds like a win to me! If you don't see a drop in the water level after 24 hours, I'd chalk it up to a crazy winter and move on.

If it were me, I'd troubleshoot some more to confirm that's where the leak is before I broke up the concrete. Can you isolate that run (plug the end in the wall) and fill it with water and see if it disappears? It would suck to break up the concrete to find out that's not the problem.

I bypassed my HP last year after following bad advice and the standing water in the pipes made them moldy. I'd recommend not bypassing it unless it was necessary. BTW, increasing the FC took care of the mold.
