    Plumbing + Renovation

Thinking about using the existing pump to run the suction cleaner and backwash the filter and buy a smaller fixed speed pump maybe .5hp to run the filtration. Surely I'll save a few cents on electricity if I go to 2" pipes. Can someone please assist in calculating my toatal head for this system...

    DIY Questions

As a DIY'er (me) I found it best to do the small stuff myself and get the experts to do the big stull, like finish. Try and get the info on what has to be done from the manufacturer. They will tell you exactly how to go about prep work for your particular pool. One PB even suggested I do some of...

    Help with new pool

It is not like painting a house. You have to remove all the paint and then do any repair work. This requires chipping off any thin, cracked or loose plaster then re plaster to a smooth surface. It is tricky. A re plaster might be the go, plaster is not designed to last forever and I suspect it...

    Plumbing + Renovation

Well I am now up to the re plumbing. I now have one skimmer and two returns and a dedicated line for the suction side cleaner. I think 2" pipes, is that the go? Should I replace my existing pump? The more I read about this stuff the more I get confused. Thanks guys.

    Restoration project

The conventional construction method is to form a concrete shell and finish with several layers of plaster to give a smooth surface and reduce porosity. Iirc porosity can reduce the strength of the concrete shell. A paint finish on a unfinished concrete shell would have a minimum life span.

    Restoration project

Crickey Bruce! Love your project. If your going to water blast the more pressure the better 6000psi if you can get it. I would take a closer look at your plaster because if it is really rough and pitted you will need to grind it back to get a smooth surface to stop nasties growing in your pool...

foot print in bottom of pool

Foot prints could be a pleasant reminder of that sexy good looking pool guy who used to walk around shirtless with beads of sweat running down his perfect body. :-D Might not be a good idea to tell your husband. Relax, love the foot prints and enjoy your pool. :-D

    How to patch plaster...and refill

!/4 inch is perfect, that thickness usually gives the most economical life of the plaster before it starts to fail. The grey areas are more than likely areas where the plaster has worn thin. If you drain the pool you can give these areas a closer inspection even if it means lifting the plaster...

    How to patch plaster...and refill

I am about to undertake some patching. I will post my results shortly. How big are the spots that need patching? I drained my pool as my refurb project is quite large. You need to use a grinder and because water and electricity don't mix you may want to consider draining your pool. I think...

    Patch Vs. Replaster

Hi jimwt I'm convinced any hole can be successfully patched. If I had one hole to patch boy I'd be so happy. :-D How big is the hole? If you can't match the patch could it be covered with a feature mosaic? You know like Marilyn Munro or a dolphin perhaps. What about another light for the pool...

    Plumbing + Renovation

I'm spending a lot of time in my pool on these cooler winter days, :-D no heating either, just me and my 4"trusty diamond wet polisher grinding off the previous 3 coats of paint. Well it's a slow dirty job and it has taken half the pool to perfect my technique of removing the paint and not the...
