New Pool Build in Apache Junction AZ

We had the Blue Square Q-360 In-floor Cleaning System installed when our pool went in. Lifetime warranty... After about 5 years, some of the heads weren't working correctly, ie; they wouldn't go back down 100% which is what you need them to do so they can rotate to the next position next time...

    Glass beaker for DPD testing

For those that may be interested- I decided to find a glass beaker that I can use for the DPD testing - The powder is so abrasive that the plastic cylinders get pretty messed up, pretty quick. Found one that will fit the Speedstir (smaller than 1.29" - 32.7mm Dia). Took a while to actually find...

    Test Results! Test Results!

I only use the tabs at the start of the season - after I have confirmed via testing that my CYA is low (below 50). I'll use the tabs until it tests about 60, then switch to liquid chlorine. If we're going to be gone a few days, I'll put some tabs in the floater while we're gone, then take them...

    Muriatic vs dry acid

Just curious ... are there any advantages disadvantages - or doesn't really matter using muriatic acid vs dry acid (sodium bisulfate)

    What would you do differently

Just curious After having a pool built, what would you have done differently? -and- What were some of your best decisions? For me: Good decisions: 1) Having water features installed (water scuppers & shear descent waterfall). Adds a great atmosphere when entertaining outside. REALLY glad I...

    cloudy (chlorine only) test cylinder

Does the chlorine only cylinder in the TF-100 kit get cloudy because undissolved powder scratching the surface or it it being chemically etched? (Note - I do use the SpeedStir)

Newbie first TFT kit use - results

Might want to consider getting a baseline of your tap water of TA & CH If it comes to doing a partial drain, you'll have a good idea what will be going back in

Told to drain the pool due to high nitrate

Don't believe it.... I tested mine one day and saw about 40 ... took a sample on the same day to a store and they tested it and told me it was 100. I told the guy it wasn't possible since I don't add anything to the water that would add CYA. He looked at me like I had 2 heads. He was shocked...

    bleach floater

I can see a lot of issues that would have to be understood when using the bottle with holes in it First - where are the holes in the bottle - top/mid/bottom/all 3/top and bottom/top and mid/etc Remember, chlorine is heavier than water. If you put a small hole at the top and at the bottom, you...

    Summertime CYA

I see some folks use granular stabilizer to raise CYA. I've been thinking of just using trichlor tabs until CYA is where I want. Opinions? Does it really matter?

    Summertime CYA

Should CYA be brought up a little higher in the summer vs winter level? Mine is at 30 I noticed about a week ago a slight odor of chlorine. Up to then, it was hard to telll there was any chlorine in the pool at all (CC has alwasy been 0). So I tested and noticed CC was at .5. Brought the...

    Daily Chlorine Usage

yeah - CYA level matters... mine is @ 30 Been using 10% chlorine (whoever has it on sale) - Home Depot had it on sale recently so I picked up a few weeks worth

    Daily Chlorine Usage

This will be my first summer with a pool. Now that it has warmed up, the chlorine usage has increased - no surprises there. My question ; what would be the (approx) expected chlorine usage be in the summer (in the UV capital of North America - Phoenix)? (see sig for pool details)

    Cold water and CYA

I've noticed my CYA start to climb over the last few weeks as well. (was about 40 around mid Oct - @ 50 now) I know I'm not putting anything in the pool that would cause it to go up, so I just figured it was because the water temp coming down.
