Used Pool Walls: Tanning / Wading Pool - Cheap Liner Options?

Thinking out loud (or thinking while typing)... 1'x1' experiment pool has 1 flaw, correct me if I'm wrong... water weight/pressure. Water weighs approx 8 pounds per gallon. So 1 cubic foot pool is just under 7.5 pounds of water completely full. Your 8'x14' wading pool (I went with 1 foot deep)...

Project in SE PA, bought a foreclosure w A&S pool

That happened to me last year. I still had a cheap winter cover that was held in place with aquablocks. Decided to throw the pump on the cover, just like every year. Well, I forgot about it and went to bed. I woke up around 4 in a panic and ran downstairs to unplugged the pump. When I woke back...

    Liner Replacement (Inground)

I have the same size pool and shape, no steps, no lights. My last liner replacement (May 2014) was just over $4500. That included my son and I removing water and old liner; them patching some of the vermiculite (I can't remember how many bags), cleaning vermiculite, foam, new coping, new...

    Plywood pool cover

When the house I'm in now was foreclosed, the bank went out and secured the pool. They used either 2x8's or 2x10's. 18' going across the pool, and I'm thinking 2 18' down each side to build a frame. then they were spaced about 12" on center? (This was 11 years ago, so I'm going from memory and...

The CYA is protecting the chlorine from being burned up by the sun as quickly. Also, with a CYA of 70, you should be maintaing Chlorine between 8 and 10 ppm and NEVER let it drop below 5 ppm. Chlorine/CYA Chart

Newbie who just brought back a 27 yr old pool to life and now afraid I maybe shouldn't have

Beautiful pool. Stay away from the pucks, they also add CYA to the water. Grab liquid chlorine (aka, bleach). With a waterfall, maybe a bottle of Muriatic Acid (keep it away from the chlorine, they don't play nice) to keep your PH in-line, the waterfall will cause the PH to rise. I may have...

Went away for two days and the pool went green. I think I know what went wrong, I hope..

PH won't read accurate until your chlorine is under 10. Post a full set of test results and we'll help you get your levels adjusted.

The sun burns off chlorine quicker. I use less chlorine when my pool has the solar cover on or on cloudy days. You should be ok to test at 7, as long as the sun is not hitting your pool yet (I have a tree that blocks the sun until around 9:30ish). I can't answer about the light as I don't have...

    I hate my pool

Only backwash the filter when PSI is 25% above your clean PSI. (ex, if clean PSI is 16 don't backwash until PSI gets to 20). Also, CYA if the dot disappears between 30 and 40, call it 40. Best way to do the test is to have your back to the sun, add sample to the tube up to the 100 line, hold...

What time are you doing your final testing at night? In post #41 you commented that "Overnight CL again was before the sun went down." To get an accurate OCLT, you need to do the test after dark and then again before the sun comes up.

    Pool Chemistry HELP!!!

If there is no lightning... keep at it. The more you can test and keep chlorine at slam level, the quicker the pool will be clean. Also, post a picture of your pool. Preferably with something to reference, like your pool brush inserted into the deep end, and the picture looking down at the...

    Water behind liner

I just push the liner up and it comes out. Make sure you use a rigid hose or the pressure of the water in the pool will flatten it. Also, I use a corner (my corners don't fit completely snug to the wall), that way there's not a lot of pressure on the hose and it's easier to pull out. However, it...
