You can always drill an 1/8 inch hole in the shut off plate of the valve. I have heard that done many of times. You will end up cooling your pool at night with it running 24/7

Yes you can remove it and measure the opening, then order a new gate which will mount to the existing poles. The only difference in, "line" vs "end" poles are the cutouts for the railing to slide into.

Sounds like my experience with them. I started nit picking every little thing and made them reship everything based on how bad there customer service was. I swear they started ignoring my calls. My 90 degree corners were 80 at best and I had to take apart the rivets just to complete the job...
