MPV handle position for off season

Thanks for the replies! Funny you bring up the pressure gauge. I noticed that the inside was full of condensate. I grabbed it to unscrew it and it was so loose it's a wonder it didn't leak. There are two screws on the back of gauge that have turned to rust. I'll have to add the gauge to the...

MPV handle position for off season

My sand filter is disconnected and drained for the winter. What position is recommended for the handle? Right now I've got it pushed down and set in-between functions thinking that will remove pressure on the internal gasket. I'm having second thoughts about that choice.

    Winter closing in Seattle?

Any piping or equipment that is above ground will be subject to hard freezing and will likely burst. The freezing temps are very close now. I'll be taking my plumbing and equipment off this week or next.

    Leaving up for winter

I'm about 50 miles north of Seattle and I leave my Intex style round pool up over the winter. A key concept is to wait until pool water temperature is below 60 degrees before closing, and to open before the water temperature reaches 60 degrees in the spring. Don't let algea get any foothold...

Winter is coming(for my above ground pool)

    Closing water level

Nwardoh, Is there much of a height difference between your skimmer and return? If the return is lower than the opening of the skimmer you could remove the plumbing from the return and just let the excess water drain out of the disconnected return. Water would never reach the skimmer. The pump...

    5 Year old "Virgin" Electrodes?

I've been using an Intex 2150 GPH pump/sand filter/SWG combo for about 5 years now. I have never used the SWG feature, instead using TFP methods with liquid chlorine. Next season I'd like to throw some salt into the water and use the chlorine generator. My water has very low hardness, the...

    Additional intake beyond skimmer?

It was a skimmer I salvaged from my first above ground pool, I think it was a SummerWaves 14 foot pool. I have changed the pool to an Intex 16 footer, but I could not live with the skimmer/pump combo that came with the pool. I gutted the skimmer from the first pool and attached pvc fittings to...

Help-fast! Base for Intex Ultra XTR in Iowa

I used the harbor freight anti-fatigue foam mats under my Intex 16 foot round. It feels great on the feet and gives one a feeling that the liner won't be harmed by any rocks or other debris that might migrate somehow. The Gorilla tape I used on the seams does show through but is not too...

    Additional intake beyond skimmer?

Another good reason to install a secondary intake is the ability to attach a dedicated vacuum hose. Using the skimmer attachment for a vacuum hose will collapse the skimmer when larger pumps are used. Happened to me - my whole skimmer housing was sucked flat. I couldn't believe it didn't crack...
