    Poorly Treated Bleach

I buy from pool store because they say it’s not old. And I store inside because my garage is super hot. Not sure how safe it is but so far so good. I think I’ll test mine too.

Walmart "Pool Essentials 10% Chlorinating Liquid" - Anyone else not able to find it?

Re: Walmart "Pool Essentials 10% Chlorinating Liquid" - Anyone else not able to find Yes, and the potency is lower now.

Walmart "Pool Essentials 10% Chlorinating Liquid" - Anyone else not able to find it?

Re: Walmart "Pool Essentials 10% Chlorinating Liquid" - Anyone else not able to find I’ve heard it’s (Lowe’s or Home Depot) old and stored in the heat which makes it less potent. I used it once and found it did not chlorinate as well as it should have. But if it’s fresh and stored properly...

Losing the Resistant Mustard Algae Battle

Oh, yes, I would most definitely use both. Just trying to see if anyone has any experience with it. And I did mean that you are 100% right. [emoji3] I’ve used TFP ideas for 3 years or maybe 4 and I swear by them. Worked beautifully on our new pool. But this old one was in bad shape when we got...

Good question. I don’t know about the sand filter. Seems you could backwash it some. If the sand is really old, you could change it out. I have a DE filter but have had a sand filter in the past. I think the best thing is keeping chlorine high, circulation high and filtering very well, and brush...

    Is this algae??

Mustard algae isn’t slimy. At least that’s my experience. It looks like dark spots or stains and may be brushed around.

Losing the Resistant Mustard Algae Battle

Yes, we have purchased this home which had a pool that appeared to have leaks, not well maintained with staining. While looking for leaks, we were advised to keep pumps off. Took Us a while to get the CYA levels up. Yes, the perfect storm. Point is, we have it. And it’s resistant to chlorine...

Losing the Resistant Mustard Algae Battle

Yes, I read further down and noted all of your struggles. It’s just very difficult. I think having the DE filter is a little tricky. Did you spray down or clean out your robot with bleach product? I’m just thinking out loud. I’m going to try the copper ionization. Not sure what that will do...

Losing the Resistant Mustard Algae Battle

Anything you put back in the pool may have the spores. Did you clean behind the light? Change or backwash filter material. Clean it. Vacuum to waste the loose algae. I’m fighting it too, and these are things I’ve tried/read. I’m about to slam again. Has anyone used an ionizer?

Are you cleaning the robot with chlorine between runs?

Walmart "Pool Essentials 10% Chlorinating Liquid" - Anyone else not able to find it?

Re: Walmart "Pool Essentials 10% Chlorinating Liquid" - Anyone else not able to find This is exactly where I get mine. So much simpler and they carry it to car.
