    Problem with Stenner Pump

That is funny. I am the guy on the video. I spoke with the manufacturer and they were confused as to why it would pump water and not bleach. In the end I ended up purchasing new fittings for the intake and return on the stenner pump (those tiny grey/white fittings) and replaced the suction hose...

All levels normal, pool still dark green

You can definitely see better outline of the steps in the pool on the second picture. Looks like it is improving.

First Pool Opening - First Time Trying TFP Method - There is all of the algae.

When you clean out the filter by backwashing, it usually lowers the pressure because the water flow is improved because of the cleaner filter.

    Adding phosphate

Wohoo!! Got my neighbor converted! He ordered a stenner pump/tank combo like I have. 15 gallon version. I'm happy I could help someone else see the light.. or the clearer water.. or whatever! I think they were tired of spending $100 on snake oil each time they went to the pool store so that...

Here We Grow Again (the algae talking)

I don't think its weird. I've been doing the Troublefreepool method since we built ours and never had any issues, but I REALLY want to try to fix a green pool at some point :D

    Adding phosphate

That's what I thought. I told them they are most likely curing the symptom and not the cause. The wife wants me to tell the husband to get a TF100 kit, but I told her you can only lead a horse to water. I'll take my kit over this weekend and see what is going on. Thanks for all the replies!

    Adding phosphate

I spoke to a neighbor of mine that isn't on the TroubleFree Pool plan. They use pucks and whatever else they get from the pool store. They recently had an algae outbreak, and was told to add phosphates. Doesn't that sound counter intuitive? I thought phosphate would make the algae grow and not...

    Shocking the pool

Thank you sir. I've been browsing here for a few years now. Started reading about it before we built our pool. Had ours for 2 years now with perfect pool water and I have been amazed to see how easy it is.

    Shocking the pool

I told my one converted neighbor to get the TF-100 kit. They just finished the pool and the builder gave them a kit without CYA tests..

    Shocking the pool

Lol. Thanks Kim! I talked one neighbor who just installed a pool into doing the same stenner tank/pump setup for bleach that we have. They saw how low maintenance our pool was and wanted to do the same thing. As for the others, I tried to talk about how I do it, but they seem to prefer to go to...

    Shocking the pool

Ok so this might be a dumb question, but am I supposed to shock the pool at a certain interval even though the pool water is fine? We have had our pool for 2 years now and are about to start the third season (90 degrees in Feb in Texas this year) and I was wondering if I should shock or not. We...

    Calcium at spa spillway

You would have the TA that low? From what I have read on here I am supposed to have TA around 100 with a gunite pool. Does it not matter that much?

    Calcium at spa spillway

PH was close to 8 TA 90 CH 200 FC 6 CYA 40ish

    Calcium at spa spillway

It seems my biggest culprit is the PH that keeps rising. I keep adding acid to bring it down but it creeps back up again fairly quickly. The rest seems to be in line. Need to add about 50ppm to get CH to 250 although that seems a bit strange since I have deposits outide of the pool. Thanks for...

    Calcium at spa spillway

I have a small line of calcium buildup where the water spills over from the spa to the pool. It seems to have happened over the winter. I tried using a pool brush and that seemed to remove quite a bit of it but I was wondering if anyone know a better way to do it? It's on a flagstone surface btw.
