Winter Pool Cover and Accessories Suggestions/Help

I use the cable and those big clips from home depot and my cover didn't fly off! Instead of those cheap pillows I used a big floating ring that the kids use in the summer I buy extras and use one as a pillow. I use a mesh cover because I got tired of pumping the water off my cover. Hope that helps.

    Is this plug ok ?

I use that for the return and I have a square thing I use for the skimmer so no water gets in the slimmer causing it to crack when the water freezes Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

    Film foam

No pollen maybe it's left over stuff from last year? I used the mesh cover and all the snow melted and I didn't need to top it off do you think it could be the chemical I used to close the pool? Is That an algicide? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk

    Film foam

Checked bleach bottles plain clorox double checked algicide and it's not the bubbles you get from detergent it's almost like oil on top of water and when I look in the skimmer you can see a film on top of the water, not a lot it's weird it's almost like a froth you get on a latte, and yes I know...

    Free chlorine 0

Thanks for the info. My pool is directly in the sun so I will shoot for 40ppm and see how that does. Is it ok to use the granulated bags of shock to get the CYA up? I have only use 2 bags since opening the pool.

Hello All, I just opened my pool my water is 99% clear but for some reason I have no FC I am guessing it is because of my CYA numbers my tc is 2.5 fc is 0 ph is 7.5 ta is 100 cya is 20. I added 2 bags of shock so that I could get the cya in the water for the initial opening I know using the...

    have had trouble with algae...

Also reading BBB for beginners it says "If you have a SWG or get extreme amounts of direct sunlight on the pool, adjust CYA to between 60 and 80. Otherwise adjust CYA to between 30 and 50" My pool is in the sun no trees any where so shouldn't i be in 60-80 range not 30 :?:

    have had trouble with algae...

Just to clarify the cya is preventing my chlorine from staying in the water. So with not enough chlorine the algae will continue to return? Once i drain the pool and fill it up add chlorine until the fc=39. Am i on the right track?

    have had trouble with algae...

Algae is back again arrrggh Here are my test results using test kit tf 100 Fc=11 Cc=1 Tc=12 Cya= 100 Ph=7.8 It seems like i am putting a lot of bleach in the pool to keep algae at bay. What chlorine level is too high? And why is algeacide bad? :brickwall:
