Re: Installing Liquidator and Plumbing on Above Ground Pool When you partially close the skimmer valve you are creating more resistance in the flow and therefore more pressure. Too much head can be bad for a pump, but you are going to be no where near that with just closing the skimmer a little.

If your CYA is really 100 that floater is not going to keep your FC high enough in my opinion. This will ultimately cause more problems when organics are introduced to the pool bye mother nature or bather load. According to this chart Chlorine/CYA ChartYou should maintain a FC of 7 - 12 ppm...

How did the pool store test for CYA? Was it a black dot based test, strips, etc.? Most of the time you will be more accurate than the Pool Store so I'm not sure if you should drain just yet. Some others with more experience will chime in soon.

I must say that the Needle valve has been well worth the cost. I can control the flow very precisely with it. It's a great addition to the LQ and I recommend it to everyone who uses one. Thanks Bama for the tip.

If I'm reading correctly I believe your main drain is plumbed through the skimmer. You would use a diverter in the skimmer to control the suction on the main drain. Those are connected at the skimmer and coming into A. Then the flow continues through the pump and filter out B. Next B is...

Happy to report that the LQ is doing it's job perfectly so far. I am maintaining a FC of 5 with the solar cover on during the day. I droped the ph from 7.5 to 7.2 because I've read here that a lower ph will help with the WS. So far no sign of WS build up. The tubing is turning a bit opaque...

I also believe you should slow down a bit and stop just throwing stuff in there. The folks here can help you get those stains taken care of in a very timely manner, but only if you follow their advice and don't add anything that is not suggested. Often times the stuff you buy at the pool store...

If your CYA is really zero, then use the pool calculator to see how much you need to add to get it to 30ppm, then add it and treat the pool as if it has a CYA of 30 when it comes to shocking; it will take a week for the test to register the addition. Can you post a full set of test results? I...

Thanks Bama. Can I put the outlet side in the pump basket drain plug like I've seen suggested here before or do I get better flow by putting it on the pipes?
