Houston Texas Above Ground Pool Question - Winter

Thank you both for your responses. I guess my concern with covering the pool is the whole issue of being able to test and balance the water. I can manually vacuum but tough to reach the middle of the pool, and I love the thought of the self contained robot vacuums but they are definitely...

Houston Texas Above Ground Pool Question - Winter

Hi All, So I live in Houston, where the winters are relatively mild, and it's probably not worth the time or effort to close the pool like one would do in colder climates. My challenge though, has been with leaves, especially starting this time of the year - I get a fair number of them from my...

    Algae Keeps Returning

Skimmer works great and picks up everything floating by, but yes I do have a lot of trees right nearby. I try to vacuum weekly. Will definitely lower the CYA down to 50 before SLAM. Thanks!

    Algae Keeps Returning

Yes! Thank you - this definitely helps and I'll definitely try it. I have to start my SLAM this weekend but once it clears up again I will try the DE and boarates. Much appreciated!

    Algae Keeps Returning

Hi - I have not started on the SLAM yet - will be doing today most likely! - - - Updated - - - Interesting - maybe that's just the nature of our types of pool and I would have to agree with your assessment of the water at the bottom of the pool being stagnant. I think I will have to try...

    Algae Keeps Returning

The attached pic is not mine since I don't have access to take a picture of my pool right now, but it COULD be mine. Little brown patches start to form in the same spot and they eventually grow larger. When I vacuum the water clouds up big time. If it's not algae I'm not sure what else it be...

    Algae Keeps Returning

I'm so frustrated. We have had our pool for just a little over a year now and I have had to SLAM it at least 5 or 6 times. You would think that I am neglecting it, but I can assure you that I am not. I've been a very attentive student of the TFP and test my water pretty much daily. Here are...

    Help with Algae after slam

I am having the EXACT same issue and have been having it for over a year now. I'll do a SLAM, things will clear up beautifully and I'll be algae free for a while, and the BAM! I'm getting those same spots in the same part of my pool. If I vacuum it clouds up the water, and if I let it go for...

What's the deal with chlorine tabs?

Thanks very much. So in other words, am I to understand that it is probably safest not to use them?

What's the deal with chlorine tabs?

Hello all - I have a general question about using chlorine tabs in my in-line chlorinator. Regardless of what my CYA level currently is, is it true that chlorine tablets in general contain Trichlor and that continued use will gradually increase CYA levels? Thanks!
