    Sundance Filter Replacement Interval

Funny, just finished spraying, then read your message. Fortunately, I think, not much pressure from our indoor sink - probably less than the flow from jets pulling water through. Anyway, I suspect the "recommended" periods are conservative. My cynical nature says they are doing this to generate...

    Sundance Filter Replacement Interval

I have a new Sundance 980 Series Spa. They have two cartridges - inner and outer. Inner is supposed to be replaced every 4 months and outer every 12 months. I've never replaced filters per manufactures recommendations :) In the past I've only had the pleated once per year recommended type...

    Can't find liquid chlorine

Thank you all. I've got enough LC for the next month.... time enough to research your suggestions. I need at most 2 gallons to get through the winter, so no big loss if I have to pay $15 / gal. Lesson learned to prepare for winter earlier.

    Can't find liquid chlorine

Delivery is indeed hard. I learned my lesson to stock up during the summer, but it's too late for that. The CYA will get too high pretty fast at 10ppm per week. It's just myself and my wife, and my goal is to only fill once every six months. It has worked for the past 15 years with my old spa...

    Can't find liquid chlorine

Only Home Depot and Wal-Mart where I live. Wal-Mart has stopped carrying its Pool Essentials Chlorinating Liquid (probably due to winter), and Home Depot doesn't carry any (it's a small town). Neither deliver it. I tried ordering from Leslie's but it says they don't ship. I know that all the...

The PH rise while aerating is really fast.

I had the TA / pH tug of war with my old spa. Wirh my new one I added 50 ppm borates as a pH buffer. New tub hasn't has an issue, and in fact the tub was slowly creeping down. I was at 7 3 this morning and ran jets with air for 20 minutes uses. The pH came up to 7 6. I use MPS and it seems to...

    $%!& Dealers Say

I just bought a Sundance spa. The owner (for the past 30 years). For setup and maintenance, he gave the instructions, "Just add the following and forget about it. You never need to test the water." The chemicals: pH Balance Plus (98% Boric Acid, 2% Sodium Carbonate) - 3 pounds which works out...

About to fill/balance a new spa...

Thanks for the alternative links. I already ordered the set of two (original link) for $20. Since the Amazon one you linked to has $6 shipping ($14 total) and I need two (chlorine + muratic acid) it'll work out cheaper in the end for the set of two. The other one that works with existing bottles...

That looks perfect... a bit pricey (as was the hot tub), but I like. Thanks for the link.

MPS and Free Chlorine using Taylor R-0867 Deox Reagent

First off, thanks for your detailed reply. I waited a day to respond to get another day's worth of data points. The PoolMath app only allows for 3 entries before requiring a paid subscription. The best I can do is my spreadsheet. Makes sense... but the tub also has UV that runs for 8 hours per...

MPS and Free Chlorine using Taylor R-0867 Deox Reagent

I've been tracking FC, CC, and MPS using the Taylor K-2041 kit (R-0867 Deox Reagent) in conjunction with the K-2006. I've noticed that FC stayed pretty constant all week (FC = ~2.4 and CC = .4) when just adding MPS after soaks and starting with chlorine on Sunday and a level of 3.6 ppm Monday...

About to fill/balance a new spa...

As a teacher of middle school chemistry, I use a rhyme to remember which to add to which, since a year down the road, you might forget. Do as you oughta, add acid to water. (It of course applies to bases also.) I have a bunch of 2 oz and 3 oz clear plastic travel bottles with a flip cap (for...

First Hot Tub Fill - Seeking Advice on Goals and Balance

Thanks, I'll have to order online. CERTOL Replacement Acid for $17 from Amazon is the best I can find. Any tips on a better / less expensive option? What is the calculator's assumption for when FC is measured? It wasn't 9.3 until at least 12 hours later. I have been using poolcalculator.com...

First Hot Tub Fill - Seeking Advice on Goals and Balance

For a new 370 gallon Sundance Spa, did a new fill last night. It has ozone and UV. My initial water balance had TA: 50 ppm and Calcium: 40 ppm. I adjusted TA to 80 ppm and Calcium to 140 ppm. pH read 7.8 and I adjusted to 7.6. I added 15 fl oz Boric Acid so borates were 50 ppm. I added way too...
