Sheared off access panel screws, ideas?

I’ve landed on the Tristar VS 1.85 HP, I think. Seems within my budget and easy to install (if the Mrs lets me).

Sheared off access panel screws, ideas?

Now that I'm looking at VS pumps, there are so many options. Which direction should I be looking?

Neat! So my serial # says 35212J2, so that would be the 352nd day of 2012. Learn something new every day! Thanks!

Sheared off access panel screws, ideas?

8, according to @JamesW. I think I heard that sitting on a shelf for a few years isn't a good thing for a motor or pump anyway, so I'm sure that had something to do with it's reduced lifespan.

I totally get that, and am super appreciative. I went with the 2-speed 5 years ago due to the advice I received on this very forum. Seems like a VS is the next step for me, then.

Interesting. How were you able to figure out it was manufactured in 2012? Guess the PB gave me a 3 year-old pump when he built the pool. I suspect the damage is always possible. I did have some problems with it last year too. Motor shop replaced the capacitor and it worked fine last season.

Local pool repair shops. I had them out to repair some plumbing a few days ago and I spoke to them about a potential pump replacement.

t's not 8 years old, it's only 5 years old. Regardless, probably time for a replacement anyway.

This is a two speed motor, and a natural progression would be a VS. The few people I've spoken to about a replacement are really pushing for a single speed 1.5 HP.

The motor has been having issues anyway. Starts sometimes, makes an odd sound others, and even smokes from time to time. I’ll probably take it to a local electric motor repair shop tomorrow to have it looked at.

The problem is, the heads of the screws were torqued right off, so the holes aren't open for a new screw, even if I had them.

Sheared off access panel screws, ideas?

Hi! I recently had to look at the wiring for my pump, and in the process of removing the three screws holding the access panel, they got sheared off. As a result, the single screw left isn't enough to hold it on securely, and there's a big gap: And the label for the motor itself: I've reached...
