Patio, Koi Pond & Outdoor Kitchen Build in Houston

That is an incredible project! very nice and contemporary use of space. Curious to know why the koi pond is so deep? Is it because of the heat in south Texas?

    BBQ island build in Phoenix

I am late on getting these up, but the grill is finally done.... The counter top was tinted with cola colored stain working up to the color and variation of light and browns. It was sealed with 511 impregnator and stone sealer. The stone was leftover from my pool remodel and was also sealed. I...

    countertop forms for sale

I am wrapping up my BBQ island and have some materials left. I have just over 1/2 the box left of bullnose forms http://concretecountertopsolutions.com/products/countertop-forms/half-bullnose-full-package/ These were ideal for creating a nice half bullnose profile for my project. These are easy...

    Waterproofing

I think it really comes down to how much rain water you get or how often you will spraying your island down with a hose. I think Redguard should be fine and the least expensive, I used Hydroban because I had some left from my pool bond beam build. I also installed kerdi in a master bath...

    Waterproofing

I agree with Jabooh a waterproof barrier is a good choice. May be an overkill but its a minor cost of assurance of keeping the materials intact and any storage inside dry. I used Hydroban(hydrobarrier) from Laticrette which is like Redguard. The Hydroban is one of the steps for the MVIS stone...

    BBQ island build in Phoenix

I was concerned about this too. A mason friend of mine suggested to keep a little mix left, remove any gravel and mix up a mini batch of slurry and fill it in. But I didn't do this and forgot in the rush of things during the pour. The mix I used costs $16/bag but thinking to get a bag of 5000...

    BBQ island build in Phoenix

It turned out pretty good. I have been traveling and haven't had a chance to post. My pictures are not very good just got busy. My dad helped me and it was a lot for him as the concrete started to setup faster than I had planned. Ended up with alittle more water than the bag indicated but in...

I was looing at the 5000 concrete too but ended up with countertop mix. Killer, make sure you have enough bags - not sure how the pour would turn out with a second pour later if you did come up short.

Thanks for chiming in... I spent time reviewing both Z countertop and Cheng's site also some Buddy Rhodes too. Really impressed with Cheng's product and site, more my style of projects, etc. I ended up buying z countertop forms - really easy and mounted them this past weekend. After reviewing...
