    Can’t raise chlorine

Perfect - that makes it easier. The TA sometimes turns and then turns back.

    Can’t raise chlorine

I’m using the Taylor K-2006 and I was estimating that the value was somewhere between 210 and 220. It wasn’t completely blue at 210 and was very blue at 220. I’m following pool math’s suggestion and aerating to lower TA and raise pH but, as you say it probably doesn’t matter all that much...

    Can’t raise chlorine

OK - just an update: I added a total of 5.5lb of CYA over the course of a couple of weeks and now I'm testing right at 45. As expected FC has stabilized somewhat though I still have to add some almost every day. I'm now thinking I've underestimated my pool size since chemicals don't have the...

    Can’t raise chlorine

Yeah I do but only to get it below the skimmer. Cover pump should be getting rainwater before it gets into the pool mostly. Let’s see what happens now that I’ve added CYA. Thanks for all of your help!

    Can’t raise chlorine

Wow! So definitely possible for all chlorine to go away no matter how much I add. Still, CYA was at 50 on September 3, 2019 so I wonder how it got so low considering I didn’t drain refill but here we are I suppose.

    Can’t raise chlorine

Drain cover clear. Very little debris on bottom (vacuumed on 4/28 but subsequent wind blew some more in). Water totally clear. Good to know I get it but that quickly?? ok will do. Ok will test and won’t indiscriminately add chlorine. I don’t have much left to be honest I don’t have much...

    Can’t raise chlorine

Hi all. Think I am dealing with a Chlorine lock situation and could use some advice. Pool professionally opened on 4/21 and non-chlorine shock was added. 4/27 Tested FC 0.3 | CC 0 | CYA I put down at zero as water was crystal clear up to the top of test tube | pH off the charts basic | TA...

Left test kit outside over winter. Still good?

Great thank you. Now to see if I can just order the chemicals by themselves - I assume the box and tubes are still good!

Left test kit outside over winter. Still good?

Got it - will order one today. I had been keeping it out by the pool all summer for the last couple of years. I guess that was a bad move too!

Left test kit outside over winter. Still good?

Assuming nothing is broken, will a freeze-thaw on the testing chemicals be an issue?

    Inyo Pools - discounts?

Hi - I see a lot of discussion around Inyo in here and so I figured I'd give them a try for my pool heater. Is anyone aware of any discount codes floating around that would help me bring the cost of this heater down? I saw a $10 off coupon online but it doesn't help that much on a $1700...

    Hello from Philly!

Yep - I thought I would get good advice here! My test log is an export from Pool Pal. I knew better than to start asking questions without running some tests first! That said, why do you suppose my pool guy is so far off on his FC calculations? Is he really using 8lb of Tri-chlor?

    Hello from Philly!

Yes - I tested CYA twice. The first, I'm guessing I was a bit off. The second time, I used 50/50% fresh water and pool water along with the testing solution and doubled the number (that's how it works, right)? So I'm guessing i didn't max out the test. Either way, you're right it's too high...
