Pool leak follow up - fix a leak for main drain?

You can use this adapter to run the vacuum hose directly to the skimmer suction port. I've had my main drain plugged for over 4 years without issue and my only advice would be to replace/swap the expansion plug each year. They seem to lose their seal overtime especially through winter. I have...

Gunite pool leak about 5" below skimmer

As Texas stated, if you have a main drain and hydrostatic valve at the bottom you may need to plug the main drain to rule that out. Since your saying the water level stops about 12" below the tile line, its possible the main drain piping at that depth heading back to the equipment has a crack...

    Poop or something worse

Just wanted to follow up and say that this ended up being Japanese Beetle poop. I have a tree above the pool that those guys liked to hang out and chew leaves all day. I sprayed the tree with some Bifen IT to help kill them off and discourage new ones from coming. No issues since. Thanks Brandon

    Poop or something worse

Well had the wife do what you said and it took no time at all for it to break down. Algae makes sense since I definitely felt like there was more the following day even after vacuuming. Will continue with the SLAM process and go from there. Thanks Brandon

    Poop or something worse

Howdy. Having a real hard time figuring out what the heck is in my pool... Could anyone help me identify what this is? Noticed some yesterday and assumed it was poop, but now it seems like there is more and I am a bit worried. See links below. Test results FC 3.5 PH 7.6 TA 90 CH 180 CYA 25 CC...

    First time pool owner

Howdy, Sounds like your heading in the right direction. Keep it up. Just a friendly tip, I would do some shopping around for liquid chlorine. While Walmart typically has some low prices you might have a better source in the area and not even know it. I was pointed to this calculator at one...

I opened my pool for the first time in 2years

Make sure to store your bleach in a cool, dark area to help keep it from losing strength. Bleach/chlorine does lose strength over time and sunlight/heat will expedite that. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

It really depends on the water balance. You may need all the above or you may need next to nothing except chlorine. I would wait before shelling out cash for stuff you may or may not use. If your giddity with anticipation, you can go outside and get real familiar with all your equipment, check...

I opened my pool for the first time in 2years

I have a store called American Sale by me, its a pool store which sells all things outdoors. They have Liquid Chlorine 12.5% sodium hypochlorite, for $9.96 for 4 gallons. Clorox Bleach as you may already know is sodium hypochlorite @ 8.5% strength. As you can see it will take a little more...

I would start looking around your local stores to find the cheapest liquid chlorine available. Your going to need a lot of it. Here is a calculator that will help you quickly do the math on whats the best bang for your buck when it comes to chlorine. http://poncatechsquad.com/Dan/Chlorine/ Most...

Now I have a question about timers

I would definitely thinking about installing a timer. At first I was turning my pump on before I left for work then off after I would get home...wasting a lot of electric. I then calculated the run time with the gpm and feet of head to find out that 4 hours of run time will turn through the...

Taking over SWG pool maintenance from hubby, advice needed

First of all congrats on the new addition! The test kit is key to successfully maintaining your pool. I would suspect that if your test kit really stated you had a combine chlorine of +5 you have some serious sanitizing to do. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but the pool will most likely...
