    Starting to lose hope....

I changed my filter out a few days ago, but will check again tonight. 8ppm lost since 9am??? Ugh! My CYA is really low (I could still see the dot at 20), but everyone says don't worry about raising it right now??

    Starting to lose hope....

We are there! I still don't understand how our pool is losing so much chlorine. 7ppm in 2 hours? Really??!? DH has lost all patience with this process and is gonna call a pool company. We lost only 2 ppm last night but cannot keep the level at 30 to save our lives.

    Starting to lose hope....

How is your pool? We STILL have algae. I'm now going to go out around every 2 hrs during the day to test. I have no idea how a pool can lose this much FC in such a short time. I even have my husband doing a separate FC test each time to double check my results.

    Slamming - double checking myself

Menard's FTW!!! They had tons of liquid chlorine. They are not particularly close but still only a 25 min drive away.

Thanks--I went to Lowe's yesterday but the one nearest me was out.

    Slamming - double checking myself

Not to my knowledge about limiting liquid chlorine, but finding it in high quantities may or may not be a problem. I'm in the Cleveland, OH area. We are currently having a wicked storm or I'd be out trying to find some right now! Will check out stores tomorrow for liquid chlorine.

Also--places here are limiting bleach. There's no way I can go from store to store buying 1-2 things of bleach when I'm gonna need like 900 more ounces.

    Slamming - double checking myself

I feel your pain, mine was at 32, then 25 and now 20? In one day???? What the heck is happening? All with the TPF-100 kit. We put in over 900 oz of bleach last night.

    Is this dead algae?

Tested this morning, FC at 32. Tested again just now and it's at 25? Autocover is open and it's hot and sunny here (a rarity). Do wait until sunset to add more chlorine or do it now? Cya is somewhere between 30-50 (30 to get the dot to completely disappear). OH and I replaced filter today.

    SLAM question with autocover

Yes I know this. I thought Swg pools needed more cya. I got it, forget the cya. Fc=17. Just added over 900 oz of bleach as per the calculator to SLAM for algae.

    SLAM question with autocover

Be patient with me as I’m learning all of this stuff. I’m trying to raise it up to 30 ppm to get rid of algae.

    SLAM question with autocover

So based on advice from here, we are trying to SLAM our pool. The online calculators for how much bleach I should be using must be WAY off. We really want to swim! I added bleach last night, then took readings again, no FC loss (it went up 2ppm) but I have an autocover. I see from a past search...

    Is this dead algae?

Filter has held steady during all this at 10psi. Also, what am I supposed to be setting my SWG at during all this? Does it even matter? Thanks, everyone for your help.

    Is this dead algae?

Thanks! Current tests as of this afternoon: (bear with me on this) 60 CYA (I know I need to raise this a bit) 20 FC? 0 on the cc pH is good but I read this is off due to SLAM anyway So I now I guess I need to go get some more liquid chlorine to keep the levels up? Going to replace and clean...
