    Low TA, High PH

Hooray, it's fixed! (PH decreaser, wait, test, PH decreaser, wait test, PH decreaser, wait, test. Bingo!) I have the yellow chlorine test. I don't know how it got out of whack. I'm guessing I made a mistake while I was in a hurry last night. In any case, hooray for the pool calculator. Now all...

    Low TA, High PH

The PH was low, so I entered the value into the pool calculator and added whatever it said. I should have written it down. I can't remember what it was now. Maybe I made a mistake and added too much and that's why it's too high today.

I did that. First four days were dichlor. EDIT: Or, if more details are needed: First day was PH decreaser, dichlor, and algaecide. Next three days were dichlor. Now I just test each day and add whatever the pool calculator says. Last night I had to add borax. Now the PH is too high.

Another question: I added algaecide the day I set the pool up and planned on adding a maintenance dose today. Can I add that dose before the PH and TA are under control or do I need to address those first?

I also changed the filter this morning right after the initial test. Don't know if that matters, but there it is.

    Low TA, High PH

I've had the pool going for a week. Everything tested fine until today. We had a lot of rain the last couple days. Today FC was zero, PH was at the top reading on my drop tester, and TA is 60. I added PH decreaser, but that didn't change the PH reading, so I did an acid demand test, and it said...

How Close to the Walkout Basement?

Okay, I finally got a quote on leveling the ground for this thing. The quotes are for a 17' square. The quotes are from a guy who does work on our yard regularly, so I know he'll do a good job. For a simple cutting out the sod and leveling the ground: $200 For cutting out the sod, leveling the...

How Close to the Walkout Basement?

Just to clear up any confusion, I'm the one asking for help, and I am not arguing with you or anyone else. :-D Appreciate all the input. I am going to make a water level tomorrow and will try to find the best place in the yard to level out. I'm a little worried because I'm afraid that if I...

How Close to the Walkout Basement?

There is a sliding glass door from the outside to the basement. Our air conditioner is also nearby. Would a low rush of water hurt that? I'm beginning to lean toward leveling a place in the yard. I'm going to find out what it would cost to have someone else do the leveling though. If someone...

Heh. Yes, I did. And drops, not strips. ;)

How Close to the Walkout Basement?

Okay, I just went out to check the level of the patio. There is a gradual slope from the house to the grass that creates a 2" height difference from one end to the other. Is this too much? Would I be able to easily put enough padding on the low end to level it out? Or is the whole idea of using...

How Close to the Walkout Basement?

Odds are zero. The kids are young, and the retaining walls next to the patio are about eight feet high. Kids are always closely supervised in this area and not allowed anywhere near the tops of the walls. I think we'll probably have a a railing installed up there later this summer.

    Total Pool Newb

I was so happy to find this site! Most of our neighbors have in ground pools, but we're going the temporary route. (We have young children, and I worry about having a permanent, in ground pool in the yard.) Our kids are learning to swim, so I ordered a 15' Easy Set Intex pool. I knew nothing...

How Close to the Walkout Basement?

I've ordered a 15' Intex Easy Set, and I'm trying to decide where to put it. We have a walkout basement that has a large patio with high retaining walls on both sides. Because the patio is concrete and level, this seems like the easiest place to put the pool, but would it be safe? I have no...
