    Conflicting results from multiple tests

Fair enough.. I generally only use liquid chlorine though, so generally unless I'm misunderstanding, basically all my chlorine is "free" chlorine.. I'll definitely do the full test, but waiting for the new kit.

    Conflicting results from multiple tests

Actually, I found that it was very over-chlorinated.. I did get a simple liquid tester locally and got the same red results, so I diluted a cup of water with well water and managed to finally get an on-scale reading. I really dont know HOW overchlorinated it is, but it's clear now. Hopefully...

    Conflicting results from multiple tests

Trying to open the pool.. We had more contamination than I'm used to because of a problem with the winter cover, but I was able to get most of the junk out before adding any chlorine. The water had a slight green tint but I could still clearly see the bottom. 13500 gallon pool. I added 12 or...

    Z-Wave / Vera / Smartthings Pool Temperature - Solved

A Couple questions - Sorry if I missed the answers in the thread.. How often does it update the temperature, and, how long has the battery lasted you? I had built my own using the same thermometer, an arduino pro mini, and connected it to my vera with some code from MySensors.org, but this...

    What to do for vacation?

First year with an above ground pool, and thanks to this site, was able to get my green pool to clear again! (THANKS!) Now, I'm wondering what would be the best thing to do for when we go away for a beach vacation for a week?? I've got the pump on a timer, and I've been running it from...

Wedding cake stairs are an algae trap.

Thanks for those pics and info.. My stairs are way too heavy to take them out twice a week... just isn't going to happen.. I'm lucky if I find time to get into the pool twice a week! :-) I ordered new stairs today.. ones that dont have "compartments" to store water in the same way.. The old...

Using Ascorbic Acid to eliminate chloramines

As a new visitor here, just trying to learn whatever I can, I thought I'd ask... Regarding this situation, I thought the CYA was basically needed as a stabilizer to prevent the FC from being removed by the sun... With an indoor pool, if you dont have the sun to deal with, why wouldn't you want...

Wedding cake stairs are an algae trap.

Dont happen to have any pictures, or reference to what you got that worked for you, do you? I'd love to buy something that will work based on someone's experience rather than just guessing by looking at them..

Wedding cake stairs are an algae trap.

Those stairs look nice.. Unless they're hollow, they look to me like there's less "hiding spaces" for the water to sit still.. I did pull the stairs out, and the water that came out was NOTICEABLY more dark green than my green pool water, so I'm hopeful this was the source. I'll leave them...

    Is my pump too big?

I have a brand new above ground, round 24' pool with a sand filter. The installers brought out a Haywood pump thats labeled at 2hp. I have it on an energy monitor switch, and I see that it takes about 830 watts to run, if that matters.. I've been having a bit of trouble with algae this week...

Wedding cake stairs are an algae trap.

I'm having the same problem it seems.. According to this website, I think I'm doing everything right, except I know I'm not cleaning "inside" the stairs.. I think this is what I have: Drop In Step for Above Ground Pools - PoolSupplies.com and in looking around online, I bet I know one HUGE...
