Not Sure Where to Start - Or What We Are Doing Wrong

Now that the pool is all clean, can you leave a skimmer sock in when you aren't there to monitor it? I used the nylons as suggests during cleaning up the algae, but I was Leary of leaving them in when I wasn't home. Thanks for the input and advice!

Oh Po!
that is some beautiful clear sparkly water you have there!

Thanks! I will start there since that's we have been running and we lived in a treed area. We also have dog hair [emoji17]. Realized I need a flat net, not just a leaf rake, to skim that hair off of the top. It's interesting how now that I've become the "keeper of the pool," I notice every little thing and want it PERFECT [emoji15]. I just have to share a picture from today. My husband and my kids have complimented my work. [emoji3]

Yes, another TFPC success story! Very nice.

+1 on keeping an eye on the skimmer socks. They can clog fast. Not sure how your suction plumbing is plumbed, but if you can set a valve between skimmers and main drain so that it pulls from both then put it in the middle or 60skimmer/40drain so that if the socks clog the pump can still get water from the drain.

How would I check that? I feel like I've been introduced to my 3rd pool foreign language - the valves [emoji6].

Lisa, am I right that you have a screenlogic box that lets you control the easy touch from your computer/iphone? Something you said earlier made me think you do. If so, that is the easiest way to set up the pump speeds. Otherwise it is controlled through the easy touch panel.

Yes we can control the easy touch from an iPhone or iPad. I've never set anything through it, but I do know how to turn the pool, cleaner, spa, lights, etc from the app.

Well, since you are on a roll learning all about your pool, how about some more? :)
Post a pic of your equipment pad and we can point you in the right direction.

Thanks! I will try to do that this afternoon if I get home in time. My evenings during the week are spent running my kids to and fro, and I have to tutor after school today [emoji46]. They don't seem to realize I am in pool school right now [emoji12]. It might be the weekend, but I'm all up for learning more.

Hi Po,
turn it back on in the morning, and set the output to 30%.

You will need to check FC every day for several days, and adjust the output as needed to maintain your recommended FC. I recommend to keep a record of your FC daily test, so you can see a trend of what your FC is doing. The trend will tell you if you need to adjust your SWG output up or down.

Here is the link to the chart. You need to know what your CYA is (or are now targeting), to know how much FC you need.

Thanks Dave! PH was 7.4, with the FC at 8; CH of fill water was 170. I should have the calcium increaser tomorrow. My brother-in-law was able to get it cheaper than we could.

Carl,
Apparently our iPad app only allows us to turn things off and on, not adjust settings. Or at least I can't find is a way.

Your previous post about running the intellichlor and the RPMs, etc intrigued me. If I understood correctly, you suggested I could run the pool and SWG, but not the filter pump at times?
