New pool build *Avondale/Litchfield Park, AZ* Presidential Pools

Have you experienced the joy of brushing yet?
:D

Well started a little but have the orientation tomorrow so will get the lowdown on that.
Water temp is 80, so not bad.

They got in some yesterday but one isn't feeling 100% and the other is a warmer weather dog so the water may be too cool for him (he'll stand on the baja step thou)

I just sent this email to Presidential... not happy today and let's see what they can do/say about this.

-----------------
I am not happy that my brand new pool sounds horrible (think a bad bathtub drain gurgling...) and the sound is very loud every-time the in-floor cleaning is active and this also does this occasionally when the water feature is active.

One of the in-floor heads is just sitting loose / rolling around on the floor of the pool that needs to be corrected/mounted. The pool handle to exit the pool bangs against the concrete as well.

I have an orientation meeting today at 3, but this is unacceptable and need a service call and ideally having this resolved at the time of meeting.

My friend thinks it could be a mixing valve and/or water level that could be doing this as well.

Thanks,
Chris

Have you had major problems with your pool builder? If not, I think your letter was a bit harsh. Unless your PB is giving you a hard time about taking care of your issues (and everyone usually has a long list of them), it's not worth getting aggravated about. I have a long list and PB is taking care of all of them. A lot of patience is needed during this process because the sub-contractors may already be working on other pools and you will need to be squeezed in to get your issues resolved.

That being said, another user had mentioned brushing. I HIGHLY recommend finding out as soon as possible whether or not you should be brushing your pool and how often. I am not experienced enough to comment on all types of finish, but my PB wanted me to brush my 60% quartz plaster 3 times a day for the first week and then 2 or 3 times a week thereafter (although I brush every day anyway). Luckily, I am unemployed so I have never missed a brushing. I would also ask about the dogs. My PB doesn't want ANYTHING in the pool besides humans for the first 30 days. He probably would cringe at the thought of dog claws digging into brand new plaster.

Thanks for the feedback but my frustration is with the PB directly as their own employee (thankfully not subbed out) was there to start up the pool within an hour or 2 from my arrive and I can tell you that if you lived next door, you'd want the gurgling to stop ASAP.

As to the scrubbing, yes that is something I am needing to do and will start today after my meeting. I asked the installers and foreman of the pebble finish about the dogs and gave no concern, but is valid feedback, especially if we had plaster.

I just talked with their service dept and they agreed this is not right and will have a tech go out as well today for the meeting.

Hey, if you're OK with it, I'm OK with it. I have some small brown spots on my tanning ledge and steps.. and even one or two at the bottom of the pool that have gotten a little better with a some wire brushing. I am hoping whatever is left will dissipate on their own from keeping the chemicals balanced.

is your gurgling from the skimmer? or is there air in the system? you could open the air relief valve on top of the filter.

We had a water sheer put in, it's a bit wider and higher off the ground than yours, but it's very loud. I wouldn't call I gurgling, but it's not really relaxing.

80 degree water, how did you manage that without a heater? New water from a hose is probably somewhere in the 60's. My pool water right now without heating is only 72.

I guess that depends on where you live. In Austin, or pool is currently 77 degrees, and the night we filled it the outside temp got into the upper 40s... And it looked like the pool was on fire from all of the steam!

I'm less than 25 miles away from him so I would expect the water temp to be close to mine. My pool does get full sun and is currently around 72 degrees. So I was curious as to how his pool got so warm without a heater. In the middle of the summer my pool was averaging around 89 degrees. I did just measure the water coming out of the hose and it's around 74 degrees which his higher than I thought it would be.
