I love love love your house, and the size of your yard... :) This is going to be an awesome build... I've always wanted to attempt a pool like this, when I buy a house.. :) Subscribed... :)

Thanks Lacey!! I'll be sure to share photos of every step! :)

I will be watching! 63k gallons is massive! I sympathize with the too many projects/not enough time ... we have a fair bit of that around here ... which is why I chose to have a AGP for now ... I set most of it up by myself ... many a sore muscle day!

So, we've had a bit of a delay. We signed our contract on April 23rd and have been waiting and waiting for them to start. I was kind of getting excuse after excuse. The builder we hired is going in with another area pool builder and he has now pretty much taken over. They are working together, but he's more organizing everything. We have been very frustrated, but happy that the other guy has stepped in. They finally started yesterday! I'm so happy that it's finally happening. This has been in the works for years! We have wanted a pool for many years, life was just busy and it wasn't the time. I joined this forum 3 years ago and I read and enjoy everyone's posts. We bought the plans for our pool 6 years ago I think. It was dug fall of 2012, the block installed last July and finally it will be finished in a few weeks! I cannot wait! I'm tired of weeds and piles of dirt and stone. :)

So, I will keep you all posted as things progress.

They came by on Saturday to cut the holes for the returns/jets and the lights. They started yesterday with running plumbing, installing the jets, skimmers, lights, forming the steps and digging out weeds and making the inside look like a pool. They also backfilled parts of it. Today they are working more on the steps and getting the flat parts in the shallow end and the deep end ready to pour.

Here are some photos of it before. We have mowed and weed whacked it numerous times this summer expecting them to show up. They just pop up so quickly. So, here is my weed infested pool before:

Wow, what an awesome story and project! My projects always seem to take forever too, but to have the patience to wait for YEARS to complete one.....hats off to you guys! That pool will be AWESOME when done....hopefully you'll get some swim time before winterizing it. Are you planning for a diving board in the deep end?

Can't wait to see this one completed....it will be sweet, I'm sure!

Thank you! Yes, we are putting in a diving board. It will be 9 feet in the deep end. I guess I'm used to waiting because we've been working on our farm for years too, but we usually are doing things ourselves. I was not happy waiting over 3 months for something we hired out and had put money down on. Plus, my kids had planned a couple of parties because we were told they would be starting it in May. I was getting tired of making excuses for them to everyone that asked us. lol I'm so glad that they finally started!

I am SO in for this one! WOW!

Can you please also share pics of the house and land and pond?

I am glad they got started at last!

Kim

I sure will Kim!

I like this idea... not to be a nosy neighbor but what was the estimated cost with something like this? I like the idea of a nice "round" numbered pool ( 20x50 )... also cost estimate for liner?

I will post everything once cost is in. :)

Holy smokes, that will be a "city pool" setup you have there! It will be AWESOME! You have to be so excited to see it finally coming together, I know I would be! Congratulations and here's to hoping it will be smooth sailing from here on out! Swimming by Labor Day?????

Thanks! We are supposed to be swimming next Saturday!! We'll see if they can pull it off. I'm hosting a two day family reunion and we have family coming in from out of state. I hope the PB is right!

I just looked through the house build. WOW! You do awesome work! That is something to be proud of for sure! Have you done the kitchen? What about the baths? How many layers of paint do you think you took off of the floors?

That is a showcase for sure!

THANKS for sharing!

Kim

What a cool build. And great progress - even though a late start. Good luck hosting the family reunion! My cousin filled his pool 3 days before we all descended on his house for 2 days of family reunion fun. I'm sure he's regretting it now :). I am a fan of the steps all the way across, it makes for nice seating in the pool.

They poured the slopes on Saturday morning. They sure were whining about working on Saturday. I wanted to tell them what I tell my kids "suck it up, buttercup!" lol It's looking more and more like a pool! I just can't believe it's finally being finished after all of the time we have waited! I'm so excited! I just hope everything goes smoothly as they continue.

Here are the slopes

The view from my upstairs window. It's through the screen, so not a wonderful picture. You can see the pond in the background. The poles are for docks which we will build in the near future. It's hard to believe that in October 2012, that began with one scoop from a big excavator! It's nearing being full. It's completely from run off.

We had a beautiful visitor on one of the poles one day. They usually just stand in the water.

We have three horses, two ponies, two donkeys, 40 chickens, 6 cats and 1 dog, but this is our most popular resident....

His name is George and he's the hit of our farm. He loves to be around people and strutting his stuff. Thank goodness for the auto cover, because I'm afraid George and his chicken friends might try to explore the pool!

They are back to work today, working on cleaning the concrete and installing the laminar deck jets.

Thanks Kim! We did the kitchen and bathrooms back in 2001. I would love to redo all of them again. I hate the tile in my kitchen and would put wood in. I want the bathrooms to be tiles with subway tiles and penny tiles. We probably will in a few years, when other things are finished. The house only had one bathroom when we bought it, so we turned a tiny bedroom off of our room, into our master bathroom. We were also able to put our laundry room upstairs.

Here is my pantry, which I love!

There were probably 3 layers of paint on the floors. Some had less, but 2-3 on most.
