Bleach Prices 2014

I saw it on the website also. I went in to the Store in Stockbridge Ga and they wouldn't honor the discount. I even showed the website to the manager, and he still refused it. Hopefully there's better luck getting the discount elsewhere.

Well that's odd. My store had signs up everywhere promoting the discount.
It's still a decent price at 2.99/gal.

The best bleach prices for me here in NW suburbs of Chicago has just been the HDX brand at Home Depot...it's 2.99 per 121oz and is 8.25%.

They also sell these bottles of "chlorinating solution" which is 10% and actually gallon bottles. Each gallon is 3.84, which is roughly comprable (2.99 * (128/121) * (10/8.25) ~~ 3.834) but I guess having to use less is nice.

However, they also sell those in a 4-pack case...on the website (http://www.homedepot.com/p/Smart-4x1-gal-Chlorinating-Solution-1120-HD/100186484), the price is only 13.48 which seems pretty ridiculous. Four gallons at 3.84 each would be 15.36, so they're selling the case at a 12.24% discount. I was skeptical because I couldn't find the case price listed anywhere at the store, and they didn't even have any of the cases out on the shelf except as makeshift risers to display the bottles. Well we asked and they ended up just letting us buy the bottles in multiples of 4 at the case price (showed them the page on my iPhone and she pulled it up no problem). So four gallons of 10% at 13.48 before tax...that's by far the best price I've found around here. The HDX 8.25 121oz bottles would have to drop to under 2.63 each to match it. Not too shabby...

YMMV if you ask at your store, but it worked for me. I plan to get many more cases before they realize what seems like a probable error. =p

Snatched up 8 gallons at Menards and may go back for more! $1.98/gal is a good price.

Wow, I wish I had a Menards. I would go ahead and purchase 30 - 40 or so at that price.

Local ollie's has Pool Tech Shock 12.5% in 1280z containers for 2.99 - 15%. Date code on containers was good too. Picked up 24. Getting ready to slam....

I read that as 1280 oz for some reason... I was thinking there was no way they were selling 10gallons for that price... doh! Happy 4th!

Thank you Menards, I "saved big money" with this sale. I got 4 cases of 4 gallon jugs at 12.5%. $31.68 plus tax, that's .124 cents an ounce. Date code was June 12, 2014. This should last me to mid August. Just wish I had more room to store the stuff. I may have to go back for couple of more cases before the end of the sale on 7/13.

As a reminder, don't forget about the following two sources for bleach (with discount programs available):
  1. Dollar General: many of their print ads have a $5 off on $25 (or more) purchase (and today, July 5th) their web page also has the $5 off coupon (which can be printed). Additionally, Dollar General has a text promotion which usually sends a $5 off coupon once per week to your cell phone (details for this program are also available on Dollar General's home page - toward the bottom right of the page).
  2. Fred's Super Dollar Stores just recently concluded a bleach promotion that reduced the bleach prince to $1.95 for a 121 oz (8.25%) bottle. This promotion has run about every 2 to 3 months so if you will keep an eye out for this and time your purchases accordingly, this can significantly reduce your bleach costs. Also, Fred's has a loyalty card (Fred's Smart Card) which can further reduce your costs.

Is the main reason for using Bleach the price because the pool store actually sells their 12.5% liquid chlorine for $15 for 5 gallons. Local grocery store had 8% bleach for $3.29 so not much difference. Do I just go with the pool store stuff at that price? Only thing is a bottle deposit which I guess you get back when you return the bottle.
