My pump works for about 20 or 30 seconds then shuts off. The pool companies are saying overheating or electrical, but I don’t think so. It was changed last season. I’m thinking it is a valve or a timer. Something simple. I have an inside controller and it could be something on the panel. I am not too familiar with a pool as I have never had one. Is there anyone that can tell me or point me in the right direction possibly? This is what my control panel looks like from inside the house. Thank you.

D,

I don't know squat about Hayward products, but I agree with you..

VS pumps don't tend to run for a few seconds and then shut off.. I suspect that your automation is telling the pump to shut off.

When the pump shuts off, what happens when you push the "Filter" button??

Does your pump normally run on a schedule controlled by your automation?

What happens when you try to run the pump from the pump's control panel?

Thanks,

Jim R.

When the filter button is pressed it comes back on

Yes, it runs on a schedule 12-7pm

I haven’t tried the panel on the pump yet, something tells me it’s a timer issue. That I need to look at.

Is the pump set for "Ext. Cntrl?" That tells it that there is automation.
Be sure that there aren't conflicting schedules. Be sure that the program are properly set for AM or PM. Can't tell you how many times I have run across customer's systems that someone got AM and PM mixed up when programming. I've even done it a time or two. Always caught it by always reviewing programming before leaving.

Maybe a flow issue.

If "Flow Monitoring" is enabled and the flow switch says "No Flow", then the pump will shut off.

Does the system say Flow or No Flow?

Is Flow Monitoring enabled or disabled?

D,

The idea of running the pump manually from the pump's display is to prove the pump is working like it should.

If you try to run the pump from the pump's control panel and it only run 30 seconds, you will know it is a pump issue. If it runs for an hour or so, you will know it has to be an automation issue.

Thanks,

Jim R.

Configuration Menu-Locked.

Press the ‘Menu’ until, ‘Configuration Menu-Locked’ appears. To unlock, press and hold the (<) & (>) keys until the text on the display changes from ‘Locked’ to ‘Unlocked’.
